    I'm not saying your wrong, or that actions that have happened like this are justified, but do you think any country in power would be any different?

    Yes, the U.S. has issues. Can they be fixed? I don't know. I think the bigger issue is correcting human behavior with those who are granted the responsibility to rule. Those who's life desire is to rule should throw a red flag. (this includes both presidential runners)

    The complicated nature of the interdependencies between Nations around the Globe makes things even more difficult. But don't think that these "Poor_Country" leaders are stupid enough to realize what is going on either. They have sold out their populace time and time again. This is not a one way street MrNaZ.

    Agreed. There are too many folks out there who want to believe and mandate that the World should be "G" rated. Information flows better when left unfettered and unfiltered. Does the word 'shit' offend some folks, sure it does. Are there more descriptive words; it depends on the audience. But I will say that in the context of the web, typing "I don't care about that" just doesn't have the same power when you type "I don't give a shit about that."

    So if someone wants "shit@verizon.com" as email address, good for them. I've always wanted to send shit somewhere and there's no better place then verizon.

    A few things:

    A. All elected officials have done/will continue to do contemptible acts. (next time please go back further then Reagan, and Clinton's only black mark isn't the fact that he got his 'cigar' wet)

    B. Why then after all that history, you are still willing to believe one of the potential candidates? You don't think for a minute that the two runners are not going to lie, cheat, and steal? Get with reality please.

    C. The Govt sucks at managing pretty much anything and everything, so the bait and switch here for everyone is to move dollars from defense to national health care (socialism anyone?) should the Dems get in. They can't even maintain medicare and folks want to buy into a national health care system? Sorry folks, they will find a way to spend our tax dollars, on one project or another.

    D. "we invaded and occupied a country" Sorry, but "we" were already there since 1990. It's called finishing a job, so lets finish it correctly and not leave those people out in the wind.

    Why don't they come up with the environmental criteria/requirements and state that the application submitter must complete the study and submit the findings with the application. If further study would be required, they could then investigate or push it back to the requesting company/agency.

    Not really a fair comparison IMO. England seen India as not having value enough to hold on to any longer. And it just so happened that when Gandhi came along, it was an out for all involved. The English could have pushed the issue with force if it wanted to. Then guns would have been needed. I'm not totally discounting Gandhi's place in history or his courage, however it seems to be left out that he benefited from the situation as well.

    If you want to break it down like that, then technically all Earth energy is nuclear fusion. No nuclear reaction, no Sun.

    Yes. The most important thing. Cost. Even at $6.00US/gallon, petroleum based fuel is still cheaper then the alternative. In the short term that is, and that is what the masses care about. No one wants to flip the large upfront costs.

    You also forgot two forms of energy production: chemical and wind. Go eat a burger and take a walk or ride bike. The chemical process of creating electricity is somewhere in the body. Wind is a little more self explanatory. And they are looking at adding sails to cargo ships to save on fuel costs. (popsci a few years ago if I remember correctly)

    My statement is an open-ended statement. I didn't say that anything should be done. I do feel that folks are way to quick to act and have a tendency to ignore new facts that come to light as science matures.

    That's because we as humans (in general) still view ourselves as the center of the Universe. When we need to realize that though we have a cause/effect on our surroundings, we would hate to admit that we are not a bigger part of things then we think.

    I agree. Give it some time though. These large social changes take time. Hell, people still use Snail mail for bills and communication. And where the hell is that "paperless environment" while we are at it? Late in 2007 the futures for Oil were predicting $200/barrel by the close of 2008. Then the fun will begin.

    Policy is policy. You are no more important then any other "key" personnel. If it were a "key" contracts person or finance person who knows all the in's and out's of that field, why wouldn't they want to minimize their access as well. You have to have a break point and there is never a good time to do it. Better sooner then later IMO.
