Reminds me of a time i was on irc once , this guy stormed into the room shouting and threatening to hack everyones computers (aparently he had been banned the night before).
So i did a whois and a few other things and found out he was using windows.
It was fairly obvious that at best the guy was a skript kiddie and had hardly any knowlidge of the system .So i said "hey mate i just hacked your system"
he mutterd some obscenitys and not so polietly asked me to prove it .
So i said to him to type msconfig in a command prompt(i still have some working knowlidge of windows).

He then continue to mutter obscenitys about this having already been there , i decided to elaborate and told him i had installed two services as proof of my skill , those were RPC and messenger(this was a few years back) . He started becoming increasingly disturbed so i went for the kill and had a freind who uses windows to netsend him a message(he had forgoten to mask his ip) and in the message it said," the only way to remove the ""Virus was to deselect the rpc service and reboot" .
A few moments later a ping timeout message and the guy was never heard from again.

The highest number is not a gaurentee of stability , if you want stable then keep your system on a kernel a few releases back and just keep it patched.
The very latest releases feature ,mainly improvments and aditions to the functionality of the kernel.

2.6.12 will be "bleeding edge" when its released and i wouldnt trust my working system to it unless i really needed something that was part of the kernel . Generaly its a good idea to wait untill 2.6.12 has had its fair share of testing before commiting to using it

Have you ever had to deal with AOLs abuse system .
Well a year or two ago i was making a complaint about a couple of AOL members abusing a web server(could of been only one with 2 accounts). in total i think i sent them 50 complaints with logs and only ever got 2 emails back saying it will be looked into .
Time passed but still nothing , in the end i had to blacklist most of the USAs AOL members and all AOL email address(random IP adress on a nasty scale , and free emails).
Im not alone in this action i know several other people who have done the same thing, to think of a site off the top of my head .. anandtech.com blocks all AOL email adress from registering due to abuse .

AOL do not take complaints seriously and all they do (or so ive heard) in most cases is send an email to the person warning them to stop it or they will be cut off .

So perhaps the admin was over-zelous but on the other hand i wouldnt put it past AOL to totaly ignore complaints and reports of abuse , so i think its more a wake up call for shody ISPs to take action to stop spam

Take head from other reveloutions that went so very wrong by letting fanatcism control the helm .Rushing the point and ending up with quite the oposite to what was desired .

To be honest worst comes to worst the UK could do without RIAA , As the UK and well the whole of europe has alot of bands signed to labels outside the RIAA.

Another think though , i would dearly love this to come up in the european court as they have a tendancy to rule in favour of the people , If it hapens that the european court rules that it is unlawfull then it will begin to spread over the member states .

When it has spread to all the member states then the practice will extend beyond the member states to non member states , at which point there is an extremly large import export market which would flow to you guys in the USA , Australlie , Canada , New zeland etc.

When this hapens , people will stop buying the DRM crap localy and pay for the imported stuff that they can do as they please with.

Thus the snowball continues to roll and hopefull that would be the end of DRM in music (hopefully a side-effect would be removing it from software and Films)
