HA isn't there just for load issues. It's there to guarantee availability. 1,000 users might be peanuts, but I've got a site that only gets a couple hundred visitors a day. That site has clustered load balancers which talk to redundant app servers, which talk to redundant web servers (connected via redundant switches). It's really important that the site be there for those couple of hundred visitors.
The number of visitors isn't as important as the importance of the visitors.
While I have replaced the hard drive in a TiBook before (and I don't recommend that for anyone, anytime), I've got to say. Big difference between 10 phillips-head and 3 security screws and the little plastic sliding latch on my Dell.
Yes, the water-carved-from-a-single-block-of-unobtanium is cool, but usability is higher on my list.
If you're a woman and you have breasts, you fail BMI.
If you're a man with bone size exceeding the average 1950's male, you fail BMI.
If you have long arms, or have worked to gain muscle mass, or had to pee really bad when you stood on the scale, you fail BMI.
It's ridiculous as a gauge of health, because the human body is varied in its form. Healthy people don't all look alike, and aren't all built the same. You can say that BMI is accurate unto itself, but that doesn't make it a good way to judge anything other than BMI. Saying someone is unhealthy because they don't fall into the right scale in BMI causes undue hardship.
Also, I'm open to ideas on improving my blog. I generally cater to people who admin small infrastructures, because most people work on smaller networks (around 70% of admins have a network with less than 100 machines), and that's an area lacking documentation and vendor support. That being said, I try to provide something of interest to everyone, so like I mentioned, I'm open to suggestion and improvement. You can email me at standalone.sysadmin@gmail.com if you want.

Amen! Holy hell, I thought I was going to die there.
I mean, I was only going with the odds. I saw three fatal accidents between Alexandria and Cairo in one day.
Only if Apple asserts that the case was cryptographically assembled to protect intellectual property.
Of course, having taken apart some powerbooks, they might have a case on their hands...

Cross the chasm of doom, fight the dragon, and then just pick up the crystal of enchantment.
Simple.
So wait, there are going to be zombies?
Finally!
I mean..uhh..damn...yea...I'm not excited at all...
And please, for the love of God, wash your hands when you're done!
That was horrible. Just horrible.
Thanks.
I've kept trying to tell them that "ASK FOR ID" is my signature, but they don't buy it.
I write in giant marker in my signature space on my card
"ASK FOR ID".
Of course, that only works in convenience stores. I've still bought flat screen TVs with the card and had no one check it.
...sort of like making lottery players pay for schools.
Why should they pay for math if they're not using it?
Because cloning RFIDs is so terribly, terribly difficult *cough*
wow +2. One for the incredibly insightful yet understated post.
another for your clever, clever username.
Exactly. Though I just used watch -n 1 to make sure I caught it
Cool. here's mine
My screenshot
I used 'watch -n'
You could wallpaper a room with it
Why is this modded troll? The idea that increasing the value of certs is a troll?
This is why Scotty never bothered to install them. When going from Warp 8 to zero, seat belts are _not_ the issue
I'm in, as long as the Gentoo guy has a Type-R sticker on his case
And my hairy feet

Even my wife thinks Kaylee is adorable. I'd vote her in.
Depends on the lap. I've gotten a 12 drive AX100 on my lap before. Hurt like hell, but hey, you deal with that sometimes.
