Game developers over the last ten years have been tied to the idea that something can only be spooky if it's dark brown and gray, and is also a sewer.
Actually in Quake and Quake II's case, the brown color palette was used to hid the limitations of the game engine better. A good way to see this is to look at the original Half-Life which uses more colors. You can certainly see that the seems in the models are much more apparent.
Hell, I'd just be happy if they didn't recommend buying the same book/item in a different edition.
- You bought Moby Dick by Melville (Paperback) you may also be interested in Moby Dick by Melville (Hardcover) - You bought Buffy the Complete Series you might also be interested in Buffy Season One
They are going to have to develop methods to figure out what is the SAME before they ever think about what is SIMILAR.
Interestingly enough being Catholic until recently was an supposed issue for electability for the presidency. Kennedy was significant in that he was the first non-Protestant president (he was Catholic).
I would sell the shares but it's my 401k and all of the available funds are managed by the same company. Is this any different from Google's reaction? Or is that your point?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer only has one musical episode. Hate this do this to you, but it is Slashdot. There were actually two episodes with songs in them. The second was one song in a flashback that did not appear in the original musical episode. So his question of which episode is technically valid.

To attract women students to the CS field, 'Moving emphasis away from programming proficiency was a key to the success...' Huh? I know there is more to CS than programming, but isn't this like saying "Let's move away from Calculus to attract more Physics majors"?
This movie exposed them to be just an enemy like any other.
I think you misspelled Voyager. Honestly, the Borg were cheapened long before First Contact. At least it had the decency to be entertaining and a good action film.
There is absolutely no reason to force the user to go through the iTunesDB for basic playback functionality. It's fine if they wanna require it for smart playlists and all that other shit, but to just play songs? Fuck 'em.
That's funny because my copies of iTunes keep the music in a logical directory structure. You can also check the box that tells it to not move the files on importing, which means you can do whatever you want and iTunes doesn't move them. Your parent was talking about the iPod directory structure not the iTunes one.
Actually, how drunk you got could be precisely controlled. The Ferengi originally invented it as a negotiating aid. The person serving it would give himself the mild version while giving his business partner the more potent version. Starfleet later used the milder versions on their starships in order to provide an alternative to the real stuff. The idea being that the officers drinking in Ten Forward often got called to duty unexpectedly. It wouldn't do to have Picard drunk while making first contact.
I love this. Everytime someone says "PS2 was sold at a loss", someone turns around and says that this is groupthink and a myth. Then they "prove" it by linking to a blog with zero references (quite ironic). Seems to me like everyone is off their "gord".

I think the GP was trying to point out that the "e" is supposed to be capitalized, rather than identifying speakers from the UK.
I know very few games with a learning curve shorter than 10 minutes.
Yeah, but most of them have the (to borrow a literary term) "narrative hook" in the first 10 minutes, that makes someone interested in dealing with the learning curve.
but the characters stayed intact and it had some redeeming moments.
Paraphrased
Picard: Mr. Worf, is that a zit?
Worf: Sir, I'm going through puberty!
Paraphrased 2
Crusher: Deanna, do you feel like your boobs are bigger. *checks herself*
The whole movie was like this. Insurrection was total crap.
Really? Is this the best slashdot has to offer for April's Fools? If you ask me it's pretty lame.
So don't get a retarded proprietary music player*.
* It's not their fault you don't think before you buy.
So I guess most OSX users won't use it*.
*It's not their fault that developers don't think about why most of the people are using iTunes when they are trying to compete with iTunes.
... up to the state to prosecute rather than up to the individual?
If the state does not prosecute... your move...

Stay in your Borders-and-Walls-BSD and let us deliver freedom to the users.
Whom have you (or the FSF) freed by this stunt?
this is blatant harassment and possibly borderline terrorism.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
You quoted 8 words. Perhaps it would be more constructive to identify which word you are referring to.
"Ahh, I see" said the blind man.
Who picked up his hammer and saw.
Blizzard always releases every one of their games for Mac on the same day as the Windows versions
Apparently you weren't around for the first Diablo release.
Or the second...

You can't possibly expect that people will start volunteer support jobs.
You can't possible expect that people will start volunteer software development jobs. Oh wait...
Wizards did it... :P
They get a Segue instead? Sure it doesn't go as fast but it is a lot of fun...

What is so hard about right clicking a file and choosing "get info" to edit mp3 tags?
You can also select multiple tracks to edit a field on all of them at the same time.

Of course, now that I've ordered one, they'll make the announcement in a few days...
Thank you. You have done us all a great service :)
