  1. Re:Interview processes have become convoluted. on Will the Solve-the-Riddle Hiring Trend Affect IT? · · Score: 1

Perhaps the fact that you got flustered so easily is something of a sign that you would not do well in a position which requires you to solve problems under any pressure - like, for example, a technical support position.

Sometimes reading the article reads to fascinating statements, which answer the question you apparently pose after reading only the blurb. Such as this tidbit: ""For use in micro-machines or MEMS applications, one of the key benefits is that the motor and gearing moving the shifting weight is all in a plane parallel to the motion surface. No right angle gearboxes are required. The connection between the two axels can be accomplished by simple linkages""

And is it just me, or is this "viral" advirtisement getting worse and worse?

At least there have been some occasions where it got disguised as something other then pure spam.

Please, for the sake of us all, mod the parent down.

  4. Clerks checking signatures on Credit card signatures: Useless? · · Score: 1

A lot of people have commented about the clerks flipping the card over and "looking" at the signature, but not really reading it. As someone who runs about 100 credit cards a day, I flip every single one over- and don't glance at that. It is much easier to just quickly flip it over to locate the magnetic strip, then to extrapolate the location of the strip by looking at the front of the card. I don't bother comparing the signatures or anysuch, because nobody where I work cares. If I made a hassle about it, my managers wouldn't back me up at all, so why bother.
