Take a survey and ask them how many of you paid or for your copy of XP on your Mac (and are not violating MS EULA). Any guesses out there? I will start and say 8%. I think I am high, but figure almost 1/10 users are honest.
Most either:
1. Visited there local bay of pirates and downloaded it.
2. Had a copy from a current PC so are in violating the EULA and installing it.
3. Borrowed a copy from the local IT admin and installed it.
Most of the legitimate people may have gotten it from work and they have a ELA with MS so maybe they are not violating. I know all of my friends have not paid for a copy of XP running on the Mac or are using a work copy. All of them. They are using it for testing, gaming and occasional software but are not publishing work from it, so MS will not be able to track them down. I bet this over the long term will hurt MS since many people I know used to buy a cheap Dell for testing, which at least had a legitimate OS on it. Now they just need an XP CD, and its different shoving out $200 for a CD vs $400 for an entire computer.
I still think Jobs is looking to create the ultimate media device and take on Microsoft. He can't do it himself so he went to the enemy. Look for a Google\Ipod Media device integrating Apple iTunes\iMovies and Google ads\video\etc.
I am betting that Google plans to use some secret voice recognition technology and that, for example, if Howard Stern is talking about breasts, then a Hooters add may appear during the next commercial. If a gardening show is on, then lawn care products may appear. This is obvious different from advertising today where an ad is set months before. Google's servers would store the ads and decide when they are played.
My feeling is that Google will test on radio first and then quickly roll this out on TV. Advertising will become more relevant. No more tampon commercials during 24!
Networking! I have landed most of my jobs from attending seminars and conferences and networking. People like to hire people they have met and know. Get invovled with user groups and attend conferences and seminars in your area.
I have been using for a month and its incredble. I think of all the applications I have used for photo editing this one is the simplest for beginners but has icredible features for advanced users. It requires a pretty decent box but besides that its works and works well.
I am sure those cyber terrorists are going to be really scared when the UN creates a resolution condeming them.
And I am looking forward to any internet issue being Israel's fault.
have you looked at MS's Small Business Server?
You should be banned from slashdot for recommending this POS. SBS is complete and utter garbage. It has Exchange\Domain Controller\SQL\File server all on one box. It runs like ass and if one breaks they all break and your entire business is down. There is no clustering allowed with SBS.
Please do not recommend this garbage to anyone. I have been in this business for a long time as a consultant and architect and would not recommend SBS to any of my clients, and I work with many SMB's.
I think that within a few years, virtualization will take over and that any computer will be able to dual\tri\quad\etc... boot and switching between OS's will be as simple as hitting scroll lock or similar key combo like a KVM. Different OS's to do different tasks. OS XV (The Mac OS in 5 years) could be your "entertainment OS", Linux could be your "developer OS" and Windows could be to test for legacy compatability.
Companies are in business for one reason - to make money dispite what anyone thinks.
I think the main reason for this move is Apple sees an opportunity to get more users by having hackers come out with a way to run bot OSX and Win on the same machine. Virtual PC sucks and is very slow. If I could have a Powerbook that runs both XP and OS X, I woul have 1 laptop. I would use XP by day and at night run OS X at home. Hell, I could even have a shared partition for documents and such. I really can't wait for this! This is actually going to be great for not having to have dual machines for all I want to do. Linux, OSX, Win, Solaris, *Nix all on one box!
I agree. Cameras are the worst thing that has ever happened to the cell phone industry. I wish the companikes would concentrate on the phone part, and once we matered that, then move to new things.
Thats what i will be doing!

We are a country of innocent until PROVEN guilty. I am all for the harshest of sentences for sex offensers, but this is beyond unconstitutional!

How about "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me"
That is most important. Teaching children at a young age to use technology will possibly help them later on in life.
How many mice do we need? This one looks pretty cool but I'll stick to my normal old mouse.

If your business can only afford SBS server, maybe its time to change careers.
