Im acctually in the process of customizing slashcode to do just that. so instead of storys i have clients and im breaking the threads down a little so the first level replys are problems and under that there is what you did each day to come to a solution. but i see slashcode as a excellent basis to work with. anyone interested can e-mail me at jrush@acrux.net
well yah its gotta be the cpu and not the soundcard that is not a soundblaster compatible... i mean comon.. oh yah i was hexediting the doom.exe and i saw if cpu!=GenuineIntel{ crash(); } else { work();}:] ARG!! there comes a time when we have to all have to relize that we at one time were clueless about computers and we made some dumb posts to slashdot.... or hell ask some of the relly old geeks you know the ones older than 20.. ask them to tell you about usenet and the internet before it was clogged with the dreaded port 80!!!:]
you think that might have something to do with the speed diffrence.. hm.. i can run linux apps relly fast or windows apps in a relly slow virtual machine:]
no the bp6 is a ppga motherboard the new celeron chips are fc-pga. i have heard of adapters to convert one to another. but i have heard of those adapters smoking p3 coppermines also.....
the reason that the celerons overclock so well is that the say 300a comes off the same line as their 400 just with a diffrent multiplier. the p2 and p3s would clock just as well as the celeron but their cache flakes out. the celerons cache is on the same die as the processor so if the processor clocks at 500Mhz the cache will also.
I think its interesting that most people feel more compelled to complain about something. thinking that they are going to change society to please their particular prefrecnes.
What relly Pisses me off is when people say "hey I just ordered this 40mhz cpu. Im going to overclock it to Xmhz" with no way of knowing how good that particular yeild is or anything... ARG!
Can i say winnuke.. yah thats secure but not stable.. oh yah and if there is a exploit for linux it gets fixed within hours instead of denying that it exists for months..

With their new LEADMINE tech. coupled with their Sinking Point Unit they should be just fine...
