    I have been using Linux since years of Caldera (i think it was year 96) continiously. I have administated dozens of Red Hat boxes for more than a decade, and developed web apps on it.

    By far, by removing a million theme options and a lot of unnecessary code, I actually believe only Ubuntu 12.04 Unity come very close to making Linux usable alternative on desktop.

    Perhaps that old joke, Year of Linux desktop, is very close.

    Don't get so upset, man! perhaps this would be the year of Linux, seriously.

    Linux usability keeps getting better... dont mind loudmouth unity bashers, unity is good for consuming-user, who got confused by endless options, that are gone for good.

    how else we will employ? or get employed? how else the gearwheels of economy will work?

    you're right, as long 2500 years ago many people lived (if not injured or had disease) until age of 70 or more.. as an example look at the great Socrates.

    so in reality, many people lived log life, long ago. It's just that recently medicine enabled more people to live long life.

    Well, it turns out that, this is not entirely true. Steve Jobs said in a more recent AllThingsD interview that, quote "[they] started out [iphone] as a tablet, then realized that that [multi touch interface] would be great for a phone. Considering Jobs showed off iPhone-1 on January 9, 2007, and must have been in the planning/working for at least 2-3 years, clearly there was some work/planning/whatever going on about a tablet at Apple at the time of Jobs TFA interview.

    A lot do look up the ratings. Institutional investors (aka the 401k investors spending billions on your and my behalf) are required by law to only buy AAA rated investments. So now there will be a lot of them scrambling to find another investment to put their billions into so that they don't go to jail.

    Stocks.

    That means it's sure to win. This reminds of of when OS/2 mopped the floor with Windows because it had superior multitasking and memory management!

    well, actually windows won because it had better user experience overall, which rendered os2's various under-the-hood features less relevant.

    And there is more, all that 1.3B people are mostly squeezed into eastern half of the country (western China is desert).

    So, if you can imagine, 4 times the size of US population is living in half the land of US. That's how dense China is.
