If I want to run windows apps or games, I build a very high quality Intel or AMD box (can do better than Apple),install latest Windows, insert CD/DVD, click couple of "continue" buttons and start playing.
WINE people say it is not emulator, OK, I won't pay for playing windows games with some sort of fake API emulating directx calls to OpenGL.
If people are in such love with Windows only games and apps, they should buy/build a PC and install XP home edition on it. Or Vista when it ships. It will never be the "real" thing with such hacks.

Well that is what we (gamers and companies) deserve for trusting iPod company to finally fix the damned frameworks. OpenAL is so buggy on OS X for some games that one I won't name moved to Core Audio trashing whole OpenAL code in a very (I mean it!) competitive market segment. Glad they had a retired advanced coder customer who could do such thing for free. That is one of the biggest favours I have seen in my life.
OpenGL (OS X) on other hand stupidly optimised for accuracy, not speed. No option available as Windows drivers have. That is half of the reason why mac games run always a bit slower. I wonder what would happen if a hacker (in real term) ignores every kind of NDA, Apple Lawyer, Disassembly Ban and releases a truly optimised Mac OS X graphics driver. You know, those "unofficial" ones.

For the bundled software, I was using windows that time. Comet cursor etc were licensed by huge companies like Disney since they had no clue what evil potential it has. I also remember asking one reputable shareware author/shareware category inventor what were he thinking while bundling "spyware" with his applications. He said the company (not comet,another crook) gave him false information about what their modules did. He later gave up the bundled (spy) software and reverted back to serial/nag screen model. They still pirate his $10 great program but it is another story:)
Question to ask is: Did Real Networks got rid of the EVIL people in their key locations who made these decisions in 1998-2000 era? As they completely changed policy and actually those tickmarks are defaulted to OFF now, what else do we want? We need a complete Windows Media empire over portable devices? Microsoft Windows Media Player for OS X was a Carbon based product. It was going nowhere with Mactel announced, it was already having problems with Tiger and so on. So, MS made a clever choice by globally licensing flip4mac basic player.
On the other hand, Realplayer 11 OS X is a perfectly optimised universal binary which has some qualities like simplicity and stability. It uses Quicktime frameworks already to display whatever Quicktime can. They coded it totally respecting OS X guidelines linking it to system frameworks.
Besides all, they have 2.5 million paying for content subscribers, add some other content providers too. I agree it is not "player" anymore but if it is "paid content", there is DRM involved. Nobody can "do" others DRM yet. For example while MS globally licensed product, flip4mac can't show DRM content.
I suspect WMP for OS X ever did but anyway,it is a different issue.

IBM offers x86 and Power5 based solutions for years. The PowerPC used in IBM servers and Workstations is very different from the ones Apple shipped in their desktop computers.
Gaming territory is almost invaded by PowerPC RISC chips. Even XBox 360 uses sort of PowerPC and Cell processor in PS3 is also PowerPC.
The chips used in servers are from same standard (PowerPC) and shares some stuff but completely different. We are speaking about some monsters here.

If that LOG stayed as "alone" out there, I would believe we would be dealing with a real nazi out there. Background information gives me some insight of complete cost of war which even extends to technical projects like PHP.

Zend is based in Israel. It must have lots of Israelis in community. Lets say there are fanatics in that community which actually trolled him enough to write such stuff he would never really believe in.

Could you be victim of some fanatics deliberately not giving the context? This recent Mideast crap really effected people. For example I gave up a site, IRC network and forum since they proved openly to be complete Israel fanatics in degree of leaking/abusing user information.
That was NOT a political site, supposed to be a technical, nice looking , old site. Their admins started to post some fanatic stuff.
That IRC log paster is a really interesting guy indeed. If some guys didn't write background info, you would assume we are dealing with a complete nazi developer here.

I didn't know PHP was such a politically/religiously infested project. This "From IRC, the reason" topic will make history for sure. Not his "doom" as some morons pray for. If the project he works for does not back him while some actual spy-like religious fanatics leaks IRC logs without background information to "doom" him, it is a perfect reason to give up.
If that project (Zend) is directly connected with Israel and majority of developers have connections with Israel, they should ethically release information clearing the matter so people who doesn't support Israel's recent actions boycotting their products may boycott them too.
It doesn't need to be "nazi" to protest Israel by legally not supporting their products.
This new Lebanon attack in 2006 started in Web 2.0 days and we have learned very interesting things as users. Some pure technical sites openly supporting Israel etc.

Some Israel supporting fanatic leaked the log, I really wonder how many days he stayed on that channel just to log some emotional response by a guy having very legit reasons for writing that crap on open channel.
Your kind of people logging the IRC channels, delibaretely missing information and wishing some great coders "doom" in the future for 7 lines of emotional text is the real reason why people believe conspiracy crap about Israel and Jews.

Can you give the name of the company you work for? I clearly don't want to use any fanatic hiring companies product. As Honeypot has also a meaning in intelligence community, like bots staying on IRC channels and logging whatever they can.
The person posted that LOG to slashdot clearly doesn't want the people to know the background infomation. He has channels log in hand, that little spy must be frequent on that channel to know what the real deal is.
That is a complete act of disinformation which belongs to spy movies, not slashdot.
Thanks to (!) recent happenings in MidEast we have chance to figure how fanaticsm has infested everything including technical projects. If you see the "Moderation" details of the lame log pasting little spy, you will understand that some people does mod down and others trying to "punish" the developer of his complete emotional response tries to mod-up. There is even a jerk hoping google will pick it as first result so "his future will be doomed".
I have never believed those argameddon, ww 3 crap movies but if fanaticsm came to this degree, they may have a point.
Boycotting Israel products doesn't seem a bad idea to me after the stuff I lived in last 2 weeks on networks which are supposed to be purely technical and politically neutral.
