... our IT industry will probably fall, just like the Auto industry did/is doing. However, a new industry is shaping up. Health care for example, has no place to go but up. You see medical advances being made - especially in life sciences and bio chemical areas. There are so many industries on the up tick, who cares that blue collar IT will be outsourced to India or China? It almost all is anyway. No one wants to program or make computers anyway. No one wants to support these computers. This is all a has-been industry. A huge commodity market which minimizes itself in the U.S. as part of the grand scheme of things. More Americans are doing less labor intensive things, and this is a good thing. Also, look at the stats on how much U.S. INsources. Almost 3x of what we outsource. This is all good!

It's not like they are there to re-write the OS. Their tasks are to get some input from the web, do something with it, and then out put it. Usually using APIs. Most people do not want to do this. We are having problems finding people motivated to code. Most want to do something else. It's not a fun job - it's just a job.

There are real geniouses out there that can code in assembler, etc, but for most part, coding is like any other labor job.

I see them buying IPODS, and airport express with i-tunes, I see them buying music at the imusic store, but not the Macs. Hey I wish Apple all the best! It shows an American company can make a product as solid as the Toyota and as pretty as a Mercedes! However this essay is not exactly something I can agree with.

They xerox it on some stiff paper and the processor doesnt know the difference. So rebate companies do sometime get screwed too. I also know a guy that buys a new printer at comp usa, switches out the ink jet cartridges with some empties and returns the printer. Another upgrades his hard drive in a similar way. I know this is all wrong, but brick and mortar retailers get screwed all the time. Internet retailers fair better because of shipping costs. It amazed me how many people find creative ways to screw retailers. Rebates opened new horizons for these criminals.

If my company is producing a product that can be dangerous to the society, and i want to blow a whistle on them, I could in turn be sued for giving up company secrets. I understand that this example is different than what apple is doing. Still, it now muddies up the waters and gives me less confidence to reveal plans my company is doing. What if a cigarrette company figured out that adding zinc to its cigarettes will minimize how much nicotine is detected? I tell a journalist about it, and I can be sued. I hope think secret and all those guys do not reveal its sources.

If you have a problem, you can call Red Hat and have it resolved in minutes. Things are easier, everything is web based, drag and drop. Only Cisco seems to be trapped in the 70's with its complicated IOS. However, you see that change too. Even the most complicated VoIP phone can be configured using a TFTP server of the vendor providing the service, or using some simple XML templates.

However, from the very beginning they all seemed slow. Everyone complained that the browser would take a long time to open. Initially I thought the ethernet interface was throttled down, but then others said opening office applications was a lot slower than what they were used to with the Windows XP machines. We still have the apple computers, but only kids seem to use them for educational programs that we also received as a donation from another business. Why would apple computers be so much slower than PC computers? I understand there is some heated arguments over this, but I am really looking for an answer.
