And if you break up what happens to your house or kids? The cancellation of your marriage isn't the messy part, it's the division of what is and isn't yours.
Do the Authors want the movie made - Yes
Do the Authors want the movie released - Yes
Does copyright law allow this to happen - No Conclusion copyright law is broken because the authors have lost control of their IP...
Well you're wrong twice, but luckily for you two wrongs in this case do make a right.
Does the Author want the movie made - No
Does the Author want the movie released - No
Does copyright law allow this to happen - Yes
Conclusion copyright law is broken because the author has lost control of their IP... although I'm willing to give it a pass this time because I want the movie to be made and released.
So what happens when a tracked car enters an area where the Open Field's Doctrine does not apply? From my understanding this could be anything from a private garage or even a gated estate. It would then become a Fourth Amendment violation by your rationale. The police are committing an action that potentially (and easily) becomes a violation of our rights and as such I have a hard time seeing this as legal.
You might want to be careful with that. Oftentimes colleges recycle old email addresses. A buddy of mine was working at the help desk when a new student came up and complained he was constantly getting new message notifications from Facebook for the kid who used to have that email address.
I think they told him to just ignore it... my advice would have been to tell Facebook you forgot your password and when they email it to you log in and delete the account... it's probably good I don't work in a support role anymore;)
You've got to hand it to them. In the Space Race, the Soviets (now Russians) were the tortoise and the US was the hare.
I think you need to brush up on the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. The Soviets were first to: put an artificial satellite into orbit (Sputnik), put a mammal into orbit (a dog),place a human in orbit, and get a probe in the vicinity of the Moon.
But in the end the US got to the Moon first.
It seems to me these guys selling the source-code editor are not doing their job of marketing/advertising well enough. Ah but the real story is how they're marketing department has "embraced" open source.
1. Write article almost-trolling OSS, make sure to mention your product a bunch.
2. Get article posted to slashdot
3. ??????
4. Profit!!
A whole bunch of people have already mentioned try to get some of the talent from the university, but more specifically, see if you can get some students credit for working on it.
Approach the CS department, ask them if they would be willing (you might need to find a professor to act as a sponsor) then offer kids credit for an independent study. A lot of students love the idea of getting credit for working on something real instead of just programming exercises.
You get free labor, they get class credit, everyone is happy.
Actually a Florida judge ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, which he passed. He then went on to brag about being the only lawyer certified sane in the state.
I always thought of it as being in base two because of how we utilize it. For instance a 32 bit processor can address 4GB of memory or 2 ^32 = 4,294,967,296 bits. Additionally various file systems have space constraints which mostly have to do with how addresses are stored, and since addresses are stored in binary, the limitations are generally a power of 2. For that reason counting it in base 2 always made sense to me.
Always remember to drink the gallon of milk slowly over the course of your trip, chugging a gallon of milk then hopping a on a bicycle can have less than optimal side effects.
Can you imagine what would happen if this guy was black? We wouldn't be reading about it on/. and the prosecution would have had an easier time getting the conviction.
If sex offenders are such a danger to society, why do we release them? If we can't trust someone to be on the internet... how can we trust them to be on the street. I realize that changing the system to actually rehab sex offenders is a lot more of a challenge then just placing a series of more or less pointless restrictions on where they can live and what they can do but perhaps one of our think of the children legislators could take a swing at it.
If you been arrested for a drug related offense you are not applicable for federal financial aid for a certain period and it significantly increases your chances of never recieving any support, which really sucks if you're trying to turn your life around. AFAIK this doesn't apply for other misdemeanors or even felonies.
IANAAP(I am not an astro physicist) but my understanding of it is that black holes give off a form of radiation called Hawking Radiation. As Hawking Radiation escapes the black hole its mass slowly decreases because (E=mc^2 etc). Eventually the black hole will radiate all of its mass and will have essentially evaporated.
mac: Hi, I'm a mac. pc: And I'm a PC mac: Hey PC did you know my software is made by a bunch of dicks? pc: So is mine, everyone knows that. mac: Yeah but my hardware is made by a bunch of dicks too... pc: oh... wait is that a good thing? mac: Poor PC, not for you, but with the new iFanboy I can break hundreds of dollars of electronics and they don't even mind. pc: That's pretty spiffy, I wish I could do that:-(
I'm not sure how OSX being compatible with 5% of computers means that their 17% is a greater achievement. In both cases Apple and Gateway sell an OS that is 100% compatible with the computer it is being sold on. 17% is 17% (except of course this being in store sales only so this 17% is actually less than 17% but that's not the point)
I find it kinda amusing that either earlier today or yesterday there was an article about how Gateway got bought out for just over a dollar a share and most the comments were tashing the company's business model and how it was driven into the ground.
Then this article triumphs being tied with Gateway as an achievement.
Looking at that definition and the 2nd amendment my feeling is the Founding Fathers were in favor of my right to own a gun. Granted I am not a lawyer or even much of a historian but given their tendency of leaning towards more freedom rather than less, and the fact that they knew better than anyone on Slashdot that an unjust government sometimes has to be forcibly overthrown, it seems that they were in favor of citizens being able to legally own guns.
I will agree with you that they most likely were not concerned about protecting home or property, but more so with protecting liberty.
Does modifying a work affect its copyright date? If I update a piece of software 7 years after I release it, would the copyright on the entire work be let up 7 years later? or would version 2 be considered a seperate work and be copyrighted for another 14 years with the first version falling out of protection halfway through that term?
I worded that kind of crappily but you get the idea. Under this scheme would some of the older parts of Linux no longer be protected while the newer parts are protected?
You also can't charge several hundred dollars for a service pack.
Tell that to Apple.
That was solely so he would be more aerodynamic while traveling through the vacuum of space.

Looking at Braid's website it says it will be out for PC sometime in 2008, but it appears that it isn't quite yet.

One definition the American Heritage Dictionary gives for militia is as follows:
...
militia
3. The whole body of physically fit civilians eligible by law for military service.

Other people have mentioned that GTA 3 and on let you use your various audio files but even the first GTA would let you use your own cd's.
