    We already know GR is incomplete at best, if not totally bad model. We have no model of quantum mechanics that reconciles with GR

    Why do you assume anyone has to come back, a beam of light with the gathered data can come back. If a habitable planet, with single cell organisms, is on the order of ten to a hundred light years away (and we might win the jackpot with Alpha Centari A or B at four light years), then in less than some decades useful information for the human race can be known

    Aside from letters from many of my older relatives being in cursive, have been doing genealogy searches through all the US citizen's census and other records from 1940 and before. Guess what form of handwriting almost all of them use?

    Actually I can but that's not what I'm talking about. Go look at census records from first part of 20th century, or church birth/baptism records, or death certficates or marriage licenses.

    ext is very non-robust, can lose entire filesystem if power goes out at wrong time. And fsck time is enormous compared to superior and more robust filesystems. I administer hundreds of servers, ext only used for boot

    no, ext2 and ext3 are NOT competitors to NTFS or any other serious filesystem. They are hobbyist filesystems, and serious Linux installations use others.

    Your claim of not being useful is rejected. Maybe a species wants to get their "eggs out of one galactic basket". Maybe they like to explore and catalog. Maybe they have friends back home with their minds preserved in a machine, that really can wait for signals for millions of years.
