Exactly what I was telling someone today. I hate the third-party applications. It's making it so messy and cluttered. "You see...this is why we can't have nice things."
And of course, Web Vista will completely refuse to do anything the users want it to, while having plenty of capability to do lots of things nobody wants it to.
Well, relaxation and proper diet is just as important to being healthy. Having to be a workaholic stresses your heart and body a lot more than them. So they probably are healthier and actually work harder and more productively when they are AT work since they know when they're leaving and that they don't have some undefined amount of unpaid overtime to work.
I envy them sometimes.
I was afraid something like this would happen if they got too popular. As long as they were the cool 'underground' company, it seemed okay. But, much like my favorite band, they traded their unique-and-coolness for fame and money. And became as bad as the competitor everyone was choosing them over.
"Now excuse me while I ask my mom to drive me in my new Ferrari to the mall."
Cocky little thing, eh? Guess he forgot to finish the sentence with "...so I can scope out all the hot prepubescent chicks in braces wearing Limited Too."
I don't know about that last part. There have always been the extremist groups, but now more places have water, electricity, schools, etc. Some good has come from it, many lives have changed for the better. I try to look at the bright side...
As we've discussed time and time again, the end user is always the weakest link in a security system. No matter WHAT is implemented, it is not idiot-proof. Given that, I think a whitelist is a much better idea, and it could work similar to NoScript where you decide whether to temporarily allow it or permanently. Seems easier for the tech-competent, which--c'mon Slashdot, that's who we care about anyway.:D
It would, except for the reports of a strange smell, and the fact that the symptoms started immediately. Radiation sickness takes a bit longer to develop.
It could also be psychological for a lot of people at this point. It will be difficult to determine how many people are actually suffering because of the meteor, and how many people's brains are making them sick.
The company I work for is a "business partner" with IBM. They've been pissing me off all over the place lately.
This move at least partially redeems them in my book.
I tried to put the actual binary for a space, but it said it was too long and that I was posting gibberish. So I had to substitute the clearly inferior "actual" space.:) Thanks!
Hmm. I wasn't aware of that. All of my friends who play WoW have spent hundreds on their machines. Plus I only have a laptop at the moment, so...yeah. Thanks, though, I'll look a bit more into it for when I build a new system.
Was making a more general point, though.
Another thing that would help the sales is if they had some that didn't require huge amounts of memory and beefy graphics cards. I love those things and would have them if I could afford them, but I can't. The only thing stopping me from being a WoW nerd is my specs. No, these games wouldn't be as pretty and wouldn't appeal as much to some of the hardcore gamers, but it would get a lot more people "hooked" on the genre so to speak. Then a portion of those who never considered it before might start thinking of upgrading their equipment and playing higher-end games. Just speculating on that...thoughts, anyone?

When I read this, I thought "Woah! ALIEN DISEASES! It's like a comic book!" ;D
Don't persuade me otherwise, my version is much cooler.
The company I work for is a "business partner" with IBM. They've been pissing me off all over the place lately.

As opposed to the million + and way more that are dead because of Saddam? And all the people who are glad we got rid of him?
It's okay. Someone will crack this, probably in record time. Nothing to see here, move along...
The lack of a sense of humor on here is just painful. Or maybe the AC's are about as smart as bees and ants ;)
With all the advancements and buzz about smarter-than-man AI, and now they're excited about robots as smart as BEES AND ANTS.
Oh, that's okay. I encrypted my Post-It note. I wrote my passwords in Pig Latin! ;D
Whenever. Technically it was more than a week at the time, since I went Friday and Saturday. :D

Thanks! And I had to put an actual space because when I tried to use that as my sig, it said it was too long and that I was posting gibberish.
LOL...nope, haven't even considered working for them. Can't take a joke, stay off the Slashdot.

...and thus was coined the phrase "Geeks--we like it better without pants."
Best? Brightest? Microsoft??

Yep, I definitely thought "Wow, that sounds like a geeky porno!" Victoria Crater sounds like a Spock-approved lady...
That is really awesome. However, am I the only person who thinks that title sounds dirty?
