The trolling for this story is pretty bad even by Slashdot standards. Express editions are free for whatever the heck you want to do with them. You could write the next killer app that runs Microsoft out of business and makes you rich enough to personally pay off the national debt. This is perfectly OK.
Projects in Express editions are *COMPLETELY* compatable with the other versions of Visual Studio. Sure you don't get some of the diagram editors, but you can certainly work on the same code base as others using the paid versions.
It's called pride and it's certainly not limited to the United States. The difference is that the US is the only country in a position to really make decisions based on it.
You can dd the vmware hard disk image over a real hard drive and run it natively. It runs really fast and supports a suprisingly large amount of hardware.
You're not going uphill tomorrow, the crew is. They know a heck of a lot more than you about what's going on and they made the decision to go for it, so let progress be made instead of arm-chair administering NASA.
Why store data at multiple locations? Disks can be destroyed in a fire at all locations after all.
It's called redundancy, and it works with living beings too. If humans are on multiple planets the race will survive one being destroyed.

Since Microsoft is throwing their weight behind RSS, it's pretty obvious it will be the winner.

Then your ex needs some exercise because brakes are *MUCH* more powerful than the engine and can stop the car even with the engine floored.
It's more likely that you have no idea what you're talking about.
