So DNA evidence means nothing. I watched the trial. The murder weapon was at his house. Bloody clothes were at his house. The victims blood was on his clothes, in his house, in his car, in his drain, etc. His blood was at the scene. He had no alibi.

The original Ultima IX, Bob White's Ultima IX, Torn, Jefferson (Baldur's Gate 3: The Black Hound), Van Buren (Fallout 3), Ultima X Odyssey, Worlds of Ultima: Arthurian Legends, Ultima VIII: The Lost Vale, Ultima Underworld 3 (which years later became Arx Fatalis), etc. All of those I've talked with developers about. I've seen screenshots and videos of. I'm fairly familiar with them. I know they were serious labors of love.

Go through a list of Good named roms, and you'll find there are plenty of unlicensed, pirated carts out there. On the Atari 2600, licensing didn't exist because no one made games for other people's hardware before. There was no such thing as third party initially. But when games like Space Invaders, Pac Man and the like became huge hits, other companies released knock-offs that were really the exact same game. Atari sued and lost, and thusly we have third party development today.

There is a game I've seen screenshots of, Origin confirmed, but I can't find any info on. It is rarer than rare. Origin was making SNES and NES ports of many of their PC RPGs. Some are decent and some are horrible (Ultima VII on the SNES for instance). They were dumbed down versions more often than not.

However, the original Words of Ultima: Savage Empire was built using the Ultima VI engine. Origin worked on redoing the game using the Ultima VII engine with all new graphics. The only screenshots and info I've found was for a Japanese Super Famicom version, but it was never officially released.

That would be a rare cart.

Within the Ultima series you've also got the Lost Vale addon for Ultima VIII that was finished, but never released. Even the staff who made the game say they have no idea what happened to the files, but they might be floating around. For years collectors have looked for anything related to it, and just last year the single existing copy of the box prototype popped up on EBay, was confirmed as legit by Origin staffers, and sold for thousands of dollars.

When an empty box sells for thousands, the software itself would be holy grail worthy.

There is also the original 2D isometric Ultima IX that got scrapped, but that was also unreleased.

For a rare released title, there was an FM Towns version of Ultima VI with full speech. Try finding that.

The only systems still hooked to a TV in my house are the PS1, DC, PS2, XBox and GC. The second I can run homebrew code on a PS3 or 360, the PS1, PS2 and XBox will probably be permanently retired. If I get a Wii, the same with the GC.

Partially true. Sony did promise two HDMI ports and then said there was no actual customer interest in this, which is true. Hardly anyone owns two TVs with HDMI ports. Everyone mocked this feature and said it was unnecessary. Sony never said there would only be one SKU. They said that they didn't intend to follow Microsoft's model, specifically citing that the "cheap" XBox 360 was worthless since it didn't have a HDD. You'll note that the "cheap" PS3 includes a HDD, BluRay, HDMI, etc. They didn't follow Microsoft's model.

"They also mocked the wii controller, 8 months or so before ripping it off."

Show me one actual quote where they mocked the controller. It doesn't exist. I read xbox-scene, Slashdot, ps3-scene, IGN, and all the usual sites EVERY SINGLE DAY.

"They also said PS3 would be a vast distributed computer network where I could what borrow spare cpu cycles from people worldwide not using their PS3. That was a while ago."

And guess what, they are using the PS3 as a distributing computing network. At launch, you'll be able to download Folding@Home for free, a version specifically made for the PS3.

You have zero clue what you are talking about. Nintendo and Microsoft both said outright at E3 that you could buy both the premium 360 and the Wii for under $600. These are direct quotes from Nintendo we're talking about. And on Nintendo's own webpage and press release they promised the Wii out of the box would play DVD movies, read DVD discs, and Wii games.

That is up to developers. However, it seems like there are plenty of developers working on next-gen games. And there are enough MAJOR titles from all parties to push people to eventually jump.

I hear from gamers quite often that once you've played Oblivion, Morrowind is unplayable in how the graphics pale. For better or worse, most of us are suckers for great graphics. One could argue that we got more bang-for-our-buck in the 16-bit era. The 8 bit era consisted of awfully short (though challenging) games and poor arcade ports. But the 16-bit era often meant the best of the 2D generation. How many truly wonderful platformers did we have, with tons and tons of levels?

It takes so long for 3d modeling, texturing, voice overs, cinematics and the like, than many newer games are way too short. One could argue games in this generation aren't as great overall as generations past, but we'll throw down major dollars regardless because we want better looking games.

Obviously, this is a major generalization. There are older titles that were poor, and newer titles with plenty of gameplay, but I was just making a very broad generalization.

I'm also a little disappointed that they didn't just invent a new kind of rumble. Very few people talk about that, but it was one of the smartest moves Microsoft made. This company patented the method Microsoft and Sony used for rumble. They intended to sue both companies. Microsoft just bought them out, so not only did they avoid the suit, but if Sony wants to use that rumble, they have to pay Microsoft royalties.

Getting around a patent means deviating enough to be unique. I'm sure Sony could have if they tried.

The XBox 360 has only sold 2.2 million in 9 months. If Sony can manage to sell 3 million, they'll take the lead right away. Out of those six million, I wouldn't be shocked if they sell 2 million in Japan by Spring.

Sony's own website lists 30 launch titles, including FFXIII, FFXIII Vs. and MGS4. Will they hit the exact launch window? They don't have to. If they're six months late, they'll still probably sell all six million units by March like they're saying.

Microsoft has been advertising like mad, and really pushing the 360. The original XBox had the anti-Microsoft sentiment, and despite having tons more launch titles, a free (gimped) Live service, and being the first to launch in the next gen, the 360's launch hasn't even surpassed the XBox's launch.

Sony was second to launch with the PS1 (after the N64) and dominated. They came after the Dreamcast with the PS2 and dominated. In both cases the PS1 was more expensive than the N64 and the PS2 was more expensive than the Dreamcast.

The PS2 is still outselling the XBox 360. The PS2 still held an extremely dominating lead over Microsoft and Nintendo combined, even though both had arguably superior hardware. Nintendo was cheaper and Microsoft had Live. Still Sony dominated.

Sony is promising a Live-like service, but allowing to play multiplayer online for free. They will have the best hardware. They will have a huge launch in Japan. They have tons and tons of third-party support. They still have plenty of huge exclusive franchises.

The Slashdot crowd speaks daily of Sony's evils. Yet it is Nintendo, not Sony who cut back on the features of their console launch. Wii is $50 more expensive than promised, and still doesn't have DVD support. One of it's biggest features is the ability to purchase again titles we've already purchased multiple times before. Nintendo promised region-free, and then canned that.

Sony in comparison, is going region-free and said they will support Linux and homebrew development. $500 for a PS3 with BluRay, a HDD, HDMI, more processing power, native 1080p and free online pay vs. a $400 XBox with no high-def movie player, no HDMI, weaker processing power, upscaling, and paying for online play? Suddenly, the price does seem considerably more reasonable. Over the course of the console's life, you'll pay the extra $100 in XBox Live fees.

I think Microsoft and Nintendo will offer heavy competition, but especially now that Sony is offering HDMI on the low-end system, and is talking about dropping their price, I have little doubt that they will once again dominate this generation.

Mind you, I buy each console, and I'm no fanboi. But the facts are that Sony has been EXTREMELY dominant, and despite the elite geek crowd turning their nose up at Sony, the masses still seem to love them. Conversely, you hear alot on the Net about Nintendo love, but other than handhelds, their home console division has steadily declined ever since the days of the NES. The opinions you read about online do not necessarily represent the actual masses.
