"Oh don't give me none more of that Old Janx Spirit
No, don't give me none more of that Old Janx Spirit
For my head will fly, my tongue will lie, my eyes will fry and I may die
Won't you pour me one more of that sinful Old Janx Spirit."
I find it funny that companies that are paid big money to forecast the future are so often wrong.
However, there are virtual stock markets where people predict the future in regards to news, sports, movies, etc. More often than not, these are correct.
Do you know what would be interesting is a nice definitive interview explaining exactly what happened with the development of this game. I know it switched engines a few times, but come on! At some point don't you just rush it out the door?
Prey went from vaporware to a title that people loved at E3. It is actually going to ship. 3DRealms has to make money to stick around.
DNF will ship. Who knows how good it will be, or what condition it will be in. They can make money after the fact with expansions.
The only thing that surprises me is that 3DRealms is making any money at all after how they have handled this. If I was the publisher, I would have canceled the project and taken it to another development house long ago.
What I would have been more interested in is a breakdown of the 5 prototypes in the image gallery. Why do people believe these will take off?
I know drug companies have more lobbyists than there are people in Congress, but do you really think they'll get precription drugs in an apple? What about kids eating them? Or what about the prescription itself? Where would it be sold?
Last time I checked, the growing trend was for more organic food. Every grocery store in town has added a large organic/health section, and full organic stores like Wild Oats and World Market are popping up all over the place.
Then we have social movie tickets. Do you really think that people will be fine with a movie theatre knowing exactly where you are at all times with GPS coordinates? Frankly, if I want to see a movie with my friends I call them on my cell phone. I don't divulge my personal data to a movie company to track me.
I try not to usually respond with such vitrol, but what is the point?
Forecasting is important and people spend tons of money on forecasting reports only to not read them? So we repackage the forecast in a shiny method claiming to be a product from the future?
The article doesn't have any real pertinent information. Was this really worth our time?
I'm not sure why this is newsworthy or surprising given that Google admitted they want to aggregate every bit of information in the world. I don't think Google will care or blackmail me for surfing porn. I think they want to know exactly what my fetish is so they can target specific advertising to me however.
And if you really want your browsing experience the same everywhere, then use Portable Firefox. I've made my own custom version of it, and I love it!
It's not just that site. I've heard it from the one person I know who actually purchased a card, as well as on Ctrl-Alt-Del's website. Mind you Tim Buckley is still excited about what the future holds for the PhysX card, but he did still note that framerates dropped in games for him.
Yes, technically it is possible. However it would cost atleast $100, just like a VGA converter, and those converter boxes are horribly low quality.
My point remains that the situation with the PS3 and 360 are in the same boat. Both the cheap PS3 and both models of the 360 put out an analog signal. You can't just release a HDMI cable.
However you insist the PhysX model is better, despite lower performance.
Again, my point is simple. Do I spend extra money on a Crossfire setup, knowing that extra GPU will be useful all the time, or do I spend the extra money on a PhysX card that sits being unused most of the time, that will actually drop the performance on my machine.
I don't see how this is a difficult decision to make.
God forbid you have to open a Google window. However, as a/. reader I assume you actually read what is going on.
How about when they announced a press conference with Sun, and everyone expected that Google would announce they were working towards a new Office, and Google said in the press conference they had zero plans to work on an Office product.
Actually the author dismisses PHP and MySQL using two of his three points plainly stating that they are flat out buggy. He then says that his proof of their buggy nature is how MySQL is often exploited.
He later states that LAMP is like BASIC which encourages bad habits. This is hyperbole, but one that I'm not totally disagreeing with because I don't know enough to make a truly educated argument. What I am disagreeing with is dismissing LAMP out of hand for being buggy. It is far from buggy.
I believe Open Standards to be the greatest reason to switch away from MS Office, despite MS Office being one of the best products that MS makes. Again, I'm not sure most users care about Open Standards, though they probably should. Open Standards force people to upgrade whether they really need to or not.
If you attend a sporting event, during varied moments people will either stand or sit. If you wish to continue to see the action, you must go with the flow of the crowd. If you don't, you fail to partake in the event with everyone else and miss out on the action.
If I upgrade from Office X to Office Y, and I save a file in Office Y, you can't read it unless you upgrade as well.
I don't trust politicians more than people, especially given the current situation of partisan politics. I wonder how feasible it is to get the average person to vote.
Under the current system (for better or worse) we have various committees and subcommittees dedicated to understanding and passing (supposedly) good legislation for various areas. In a true democracy, we'd all get a vote on all issues.
Let's take the.xxx domain issue. In truth, adding a.xxx domain will help keep kids from seeing porn. The news and Congress latched on to this stupid concept that it adds porn to the web. If the majority of Americans believe that, they vote it down because they don't understand the issue.
In theory, the committees are supposed to advise the rest of Congress because they are informed on particular issues. In practice, I'm not sure how much smarter politicians are than you and I.
This is not the first online collaborative spreadsheet to hit the market. However, I imagine this might be the first to take off, even without having used it yet myself.
Google has repeatedly denied any and all rumors of making online office products. I am glad that they started with a spreadsheet, given that you don't need a collaborative online word processor when you have things like wiki's.
It Scotland, your post would be translated as, "Hey Macleoud, get off my ewe!"
...I count 12 required fields where you have to enter data.
Is this worth throwing a hissy fit over? Once one person downloads the docs, they can distribute them.
...Ford Prefect and the Heart of Gold were spotted nearby.

But no doubt they've spent said money. Those profits can only last so many years.
Well Mother 3 is shipping as well, and we're finally getting a proper Mario sequel. I guess Phantom is the logical choice.
Even funnier than the Phantom? The Phantom Investors!

There are tons of services that host your bookmarks remotely. I use the Foxmarks extension for Firefox personally and love it.

Every single time they said they had zero interest in developing office applications, and specifically denying working on online office applications.
