I think this competition will be very integral to get anything space oriented off the ground. Without it, NASA seems to stagnate. The last time we had any manned missions with the attention of the public it was the space race, and as much as it cost us, it was well spent. Now if only we would spend our tax dollars on exploration rather than attemtping to reinvent the wheel in other countries, and this from a moderate conservative!

How about your turn your brain on troll and see where the world is headed. Every day some article is posted about us losing our rights and becoming criminals for what was once something we were allowed to do.
Go back in your hole.

Seems to me that Microsoft will be digging its own grave with this. As it stands, Linux doesnt offer me anything more that Windows does really. However, if i couldnt run software or listen to my music that wasnt acquired with their license, i will have a great reason to switch. In addition, someone was talking about Secure Access Protection and not being able to connect to the internet, but how would that apply to those with *NIX boxes or those on Windows that spoof a NIX box. I guess we will have to see how it plays out. I understand piracy is a huge issue as it is readily accepted here in college, but come on Microsoft, youre not making any consumer friends with these things!

How long before someone writes a script that can search for a beginning passage of a book and then continue its search while recording the entire contents of a book, all for free.
This should be very interesting to see how, and if, Google approaches this.
Definitely disagree with you there. Im not sure what you do, but lets say you work in the software industry. If i get a hold of your products and sell them in a different country for 1/10th of what you sell it for and offer you nothing or near nothing, how is this not unethical again? How is this any different from just stealing the music, except you are paying allofmp3.com to be able to steal higher quality versions.
Now the true irony of it all, is i use allofmp3.com and work in the software industry...go figure.
The key difference here is Steam has content thats worthwhile and people want. I am amazed they didnt take more flak for switching to such a system, but in use once it is authenticated, you can unlock the program for offline use and HL2 is already being passed around, so even that didnt work too well...DRM is pointless people, geeks make it, and geeks can unmake it.
Ive been a faithful Firefox user for a while, however, with all these pathches, i am starting to become disheartened. Arent all the things we complain about IE patchable? The whole point is if it was done well, it would not NEED all these patches. Perhaps I am off base, but after a few more patches, I might have to start looking around.

This is scary. As a 19 year old, we read about a book whos ideas sounded so off the wall that it made it science fiction. But honestly, every day i read about these things, i cannot imagine how this can happen. A MICROPHONE outside of my house for several days? Are you kidding me? Why can the police officers not handle the complaint, is that not what they are there for? Please, i do not want to be under total government control in 10 years./rant
You say they lose $x billion per year to the underground industry is ludacris, but here in a college dorm, you have NO idea the know of movies being copied and distributed. Given all of us wouldnt be buying all these, we certainly would be buying a lot more if it wasnt simply easier to download. The MPAA, like the RIAA needs to find a new buisness model involving and embracing technology if they want to survive.
I actually looked and you can easily get a local number in the US out of a large list of numbers they have so it seems like the unlikely case is true. Looks good to me
Why didnt NASA create a robotic arm on the rovers that would self clean? I mean how hard would that be to add a "windshield wiper" sort of device to clear off dust? Am i way far off here?
Derek
You sir win my award for butchering the spelling of "a lot" the most.
You are saying there is a problem that the sales person called the acronym by its full name and that is a problem?
And this is needed why?

I understood sometimes dupes were posted here a few days later but this is verbatim of something posted today. Come on guys...

And they raised prices, before the songs were dirt cheap, not theyre moderately cheap.
