Starting with ridiculous overkill like that, of course 60% reduction isn't meaningful.
I know - that's the point, Uranium is extremely deadly and depleted uranium is also extremely deadly, it's called depleted because it's no longer useful as a fuel in the reactor is was in, not because it's deadlyness is depleted. So where uranium emits N radiation per hour depleted uranium emits 40% of N radiation per hour - or can you show that this is not correct.
btw a pint is 568ml...googles to check... ah - english pints kick usa pints asses!!!!
You say my analogy is bad, but yours is devoid of logic and absurd. You can't be half dead, either you are or you aren't, sometimes when a thing is 50% less than a different thing it really makes no difference to the final outcome, A ton will squish a bug and so will half a ton etc.
Older machines weren't pulling as much air through the computer and the floppy drive - my newer machine has 4 big fans pulling air through and the floppy drive is full of dust - this could be one of the causes of corruption.. new floppy drives also very cheap.
Modding my posts as troll when they are full of links and facts because you don't like what I have to say is pathetic, grow up and reply with a solid argument or GTFO.
So not much less radio-active then, like I said - would you drink 40% of a pint of cyanide - the point is that we are now going to have a million tons of radioactive crap lying round for the next 4.5 billion years, god only knows how many revolutions and govt's we'll have in that time, we don't need crap like du sitting about. Yucca mountain sounds good to me.
"About 95% of the depleted uranium produced is stored as uranium hexafluoride"
"The storage of DUF6 presents environmental, health, and safety risks because of its chemical instability. When UF6 is exposed to water vapor in the air, it reacts with the moisture to produce UO2F2 (uranyl fluoride), a solid, and HF (hydrogen fluoride), a gas, both of which are highly soluble and toxic."
The fact that alpha-particles can't go through paper becomes a moot point if the stored DU has become gaseous and leaked. Even worse if it poisons a water table. Earth has enough problems with us poisoning water tables worldwide, without this extra potential problem.
Renewable energy can power out electricity needs several times over, the energy storage solutions are out there at 90%+ efficiency and can no doubt be improved further, we just need to stop being a bunch of stupid monkeys and get our priorities straight.
I repeat - humans obviously can't yet be trusted with nuclear materials, history has shown this very well. Look up DU in Iraq and Balkans munitions, it's possibly the cause of gulf war syndrome and I think it's one of the biggest war crimes this world has ever seen.
You people are un-fucking-believable, not matter how bad nuclear power gets you just don't get that humans can't yet be trusted to manage it safely. Nuclear accidents, oh well it won't happen again. Corruption? Mafia dumping the shit in the sea? I swear the only thing that would stop the nuclear zealots here would be all out nuclear war.
Americas politicians are corrupt and can't be trusted to manage nuclear power.
The U.S. Army has commissioned ongoing research into potential risks of depleted uranium and other projectile weapon materials like tungsten, which the U.S. Navy has used in place of DU since 1993. Studies by the U.S. Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute conclude that moderate exposures to either depleted uranium or uranium present a significant toxicological threat.[100]
Note how is says "depleted uranuim or uranium" - the toxicity is similar.
It has 50% of the radioactivity of full Uranium, that's like half a pint of cyanide instead of a full pint - Depleted uranium is extremely toxic, it is not in any way very very very mildly radioactive - that is complete BS.
WTF is 'Violent and unlawful content'?????? Are they going to ban you tube now, how about the 9-11 plane crashes - 3000 die, that's pretty violent and unlawful!! Actually I think it's distasteful watching people die and gaining entertainment from it, but the line is too hard to draw between that and safety videos and newsworthy videos.
And what if a Webian Shell app' crashes - will the whole thing have to be restarted? I've already got an OS, I don't need an OS in my OS, VMs are for that.
Moz' should be careful about burning cash, Google won't be funding them forever, and it seems like they've picked up a phb or two along the way.
2nd hand laser, over 5000 pages per cartridge, cartridge included - £28 (~â30 ~$45). Why bother with inkjects - 2nd hand lasers are very cheap and last forever (old HP LJs - built like tanks).
Yeah ok, what I meant is no way to explode and poison millions of people and animals - I lived under the Chernobyl radioactive cloud, we used powedered milk because the cows were concentrating the radiation in to the milk, it was over a decade before all of the livestock were deemed to be safe to eat.
Renewable energy can power our world needs several times over, we just need to start investing in energy storage - some of which is over 90% efficient, so it really doesn't matter if the supply isn't constant.
About 90 percent of the world's 270,000 tons in used nuclear fuel is stored at reactor sites, mostly in ponds of seven meters deep, such as those exposed at the Fukushima site when hydrogen explosions blew the roofs off reactor buildings.
- Tell me this doesn't you cringe. The only kind of nuclear power I'd ever accept is that which doesn't leave behind nuclear waste and doesn't have the potential to explode.
But companies like IBM and Nokia have also been involved in research. IBM has created a 150 gigahertz (Ghz) transistor - the quickest comparable silicon device runs at about 40 Ghz.
Perhaps I should have written that differently - I'm totally against warrantless wire-tapping, There is no 'my side' I'm not left/right/conservative/liberal, I'm for corporate / paid lobbying being sorted out, very strict rules about civil --> corp' job taking and a close look at all of the so called 'think-tanks' and their affect on policy-making. Corporations need to be on a leash or they will wreck society and the environment to make a profit.
You completely fail to give any reason as to why he needed to do this and why it was right - America could have produced the arms, trained the men and fought the war without wire-tapping it's own citizens.
I'm not sure that the RIAA's lawyers would be too eager to sue
Ha ha ha - a lawyer that's not eager to sue, Perhaps what you meant to say way RIAA's lawyers are currently down the estate agents, looking at bigger houses and talking about what car they want next.
Or VISA, Mastercard, Paypal et al. should be held to account for passing on money to these obvious fraudsters, All to quick to cut off Wikileaks weren't they - two-faced bastards.
I would take that page with a pinch of salt - on Anandtech's page the 6-core AMD is using about the same as an i5 of similar price and speed:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=203
My system with a 4core Phenom also uses only 84 watts at idle... Perhaps that article didn't have energy-saving turned on for the chip - that's an extra 25w right there (tested myself with a power monitor).
..And for windows users, delete the/macromedia directory!
(in ?:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\) or C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\
Not always so easy with netbooks, especially when the manufacturors haven't suppied the re-install OS.

Hey now! upgraded to quad core etc, but why bother upgrading the floppy drive - mines disabled to stop it appearing in XP send-to menu.

I realise that we have great potential, but having great potential didn't stop the Mafia from dumping nuclear waste did it?

Hell. most people don't know what nuclear waste consists of, how it is moved, what it is stored in, or how much(little) there is.
1,188,273 Tons of depleted Uranium, Half life of 4.5 billions years and the storage only lasts decades and had already leaked!
Depleted Uranium is extremely toxic.
So enough crap about there not being much or the half-life being short etc.

So, if you have a personal domain, get a trademark out on that domain before some bastard corp tries to take it off of you.
How much does a trade mark cost anyhow?
