I've put the task bat on the left since Windows 95... it's just a far better place for it, in my opinion, as the tasks are always in the same place, and are the same size. You can set them as wide as you need. I used to do the same in Gnome, but lately they've added some very useful panel widgets that do not re-orient themselves properly on a vertical task bar... I eventually gave up and reverted to the default horizontal bar. It's too bad too, a lot of people seem to be realizing the vertical task bar is a better solution.
I think these memes are an important part of SlashDot. Sometimes they're pointless, but they're also frequently very funny or apropos, and they help define the community.
I've used KillNotes as well. I see I got modded Troll for the comment, which is a little suspicious. IBM should be ashamed for releasing and selling Notes.
In their defense, it's extremely difficult to buy many machines, especially laptops, without Windows. This is one thing that would be really nice to change.
Actually, N2O makes your voice sound funny as well, but it makes your voice lower, not higher. You can do an excellent James Earl Jones imitation with a lung-full of N2O.
I think the dropping number of searches over the last few years is an indication of better behaviour with hardware, and in general. I know I need to do a lot fewer searches to resolve problems than I used to, with most new install of Ubuntu and Mint working perfectly right out of the box.
Yes, and quickly in this case too, I think, with a fast fix, and then more solid changes later.
You can never really tell whether there was an attack or not. There may have been something targeted at a very specific company, site, or person.
I doubt any other tablet will have the media fawning over it to the degree they did with the iPad. I also doubt any other manufacturer has the number of followers who would buy one no matter what its capabilities are. Apple does enjoy certain marketing advantages (that they've earned to a degree) that others don't have.
I get that even on an old HTC Diamond (running a hacked version of Android with no power saving), so if you're getting that little, you should check your battery. I would believe as little as 8 hours of heavy use though. Whoever figures out how to store a magnitude increase in power for portable devices is going to make an absolute killing. It's the biggest obstacle to portable computing right now.
Any word on power consumption? Far be it for me to RTFA, but I would think this would require a non-trivial amount of power, perhaps limiting its usefulness on phones in the near future.
I won't disable automatic updates, but I will disable silent automatic updates. When something stops working, I generally look at what has changed. If I don't know what to look at, it makes things very difficult to debug.
The games shops lose and the customer loses too.
Luckily, Sony doesn't about either of those groups.

Some of has to go, yes. When people are gaming the system this badly, the system needs to be changed.

If you'd ever used Notes, you'd understand why they used Outlook. I think the guys that wrote Notes use Outlook.
People still buy machines pre-loaded with Windows

If net neutrality laws were in place they'd still be allowed to prioritise gaming traffic for everyone.

I really can't believe that even government officials wouldn't notice how shallow this attempt is.
Sometimes people make mistakes.
Most iris recognition uses the infra-red spectrum, so sunglasses won't help unless they block those frequencies.

You don't have to buy the item before you find out that it's not on sale.
We like to make fun of stupid people.
... or their neighbours? RF doesn't stop at your neighbours fence.

Sorry to interrupt, but we're suffering up here in Canada as well, eh. It's OK though, please don't come rescue us.
lack of a Lysine (K627) in the PB2 gene
As they say, nature will find a way.
