Does anyone in this thread really think that Apple, a company utterly obsessed with aesthetics, good design, and usability, would put ads in their operating system?
Well, it's not like there aren't any good, ethical people even at the highest levels of corporate power. There are good, ethical politicians, too. Heck, I've met some of both.

But we don't know if it sucks. If it sucks then it isn't much competition, but we haven't seen the browser yet on the iPhone. lets give it a try before we condemn it.
The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.
The more they try to control it, the more people will revolt and go against it.

basic yes, but I don't know that they should have to be able to jump in and fill in if someone isn't there.

I'm trying to figure out which side you're arguing for. You say
You are there to code.. not them.
but then turn around and say:
I think we've all been there... the guy who is directing the circus has no clue about whats involved in it's component parts and you wonder how he ever got the job...
I think they should know how to do the jobs they manage. Unless they are managing several different types of jobs such as coding and graphics design. I think it would be unreasonable to expect someone to know how to do both.
Ok, maybe someone can explain this to me. a cookie is just a file on your computer right?. So how is the isp (or router sniffing the packets), going to retrieve this cookie and not target ads at me. Not all my packets may not go through the same router every time (though I'm sure usually they do). So are they going to request this cookie for every packet? keep a big local list on the router of ip addresses to not sniff and have to check against that list everytime and hope the ip of my non-static ip address doesn't change ever?
I vote we don't make them move we just don't rebuild the levees with tax dollars. If some private corporations or individuals want to fork over the money to keep rebuilding it then thats fine by me.
Are you fucking serious? This is a joke, It has to be, no one could be so stupid and still type.
I have lots to hide, everyone does, especially when using a PC. How about whacking it to pron? How about P2P piracy, how about copying from wikipedia for an essay? How about uploading stupid comments as an AC?
Except now you've posted it on the internet that you do these things so you don't have to hide it anymore.
(and yes I'm joking for you morons that can't tell)
Yes, and anyone making a phone call to plan their sleepover deserves the same privacy. It shouldn't matter what they are using, they have a right to privacy but the gov't is going to find a way to listen in. My point was that technology isn't secure and anyone who believes it is, is only fooling themselves.

Just means the ads will be pretty.

If I throw money at the democrats will they go away?
yeah, like they're going to pass a bill that hurts their wallet.
Anonymous Coward and Retarded Jackass both 16 characters. Coincidence? I think not.
wow, such insight. And not a ripoff of the post right before you. Although at least you spelled things right.

we wouldn't want competition would we.
I realize the the rest of the world knows about it, but how many chinese know about it?

studies have shown that 10 out of 10 people die.
Wow, you actually think it'll make it out of beta.
Please tell me you're kidding.

no, tell them all your going to kill all them but the winner gets to die quickly.
It's the whole internet because Steve Jobs said so. Obviously flash and java aren't part of the internet.
So wikipedia is infallible now. I must have missed that memo.
