Does anyone in this thread really think that Apple, a company utterly obsessed with aesthetics, good design, and usability, would put ads in their operating system?

I'm trying to figure out which side you're arguing for. You say

You are there to code.. not them.

but then turn around and say:

I think we've all been there... the guy who is directing the circus has no clue about whats involved in it's component parts and you wonder how he ever got the job...

I think they should know how to do the jobs they manage. Unless they are managing several different types of jobs such as coding and graphics design. I think it would be unreasonable to expect someone to know how to do both.

  14. A cookie? on A Setback for ISP Web Tracking · · Score: 1

Ok, maybe someone can explain this to me. a cookie is just a file on your computer right?. So how is the isp (or router sniffing the packets), going to retrieve this cookie and not target ads at me. Not all my packets may not go through the same router every time (though I'm sure usually they do). So are they going to request this cookie for every packet? keep a big local list on the router of ip addresses to not sniff and have to check against that list everytime and hope the ip of my non-static ip address doesn't change ever?
