I was already logged into Wikipedia. I went to e-wiki, and did a search for itself. I decided I'd have some fun and create the article. I clicked to create it, and it brought me over to en.wikipedia.org to create it.
Very interesting. Not even -trying- for original content.
The site is probably just a reverse proxy with a few filters to insert ads, maybe embed malicious content, insert some junk text, white on white, and the site owners probably hope that when people are looking for info using a search engine, that they will mistake the site for the real Wikipedia. Yeah, but like the real Wikipedia, can this one survive the Slashdot effect? Let's find out!
we will have touchscreen devices coming this year Fine. As long as their not too small, are easily manageble, not too cluttered or prone to mis-cues or a sudden lack of input.
I'm all for fair use, but I think the judge went a bit too far. After all, the intended purpose of the disks seems pretty clear and promoting disincentives for record labels to distribute music for FREE to radio stations benefits no one except corrupt DJ. Fuck you, Tony. Well, a corrupt DJ wouldn't really care if they were allowed to re-sell these promo CDs or not. In fact, they'd probably sell copies months before the band debuted, if it was a particularly good band. Y'know, being that they are corrupt and all.
The main item here is the unsolicited mailing of these materials and then trying to force a contract on the recipient. Making copies of the CD that you intend to sell is still an offense, it's the re-selling of the original, unsolicited material that has been ruled legal.
The RIAA didn't walk away from the case and then try to re-sue using a different judge this time? They would have, but the defense slapped a sticker on the paperwork stating "not for re-trial".
So explain to me how a man who doesn't even understand the concept of presumption of innocence is allowed to sit on the supreme court. It's essentially the same principle as putting Michael Brown in charge of FEMA.
That being said, what you should really be asking is why are these hand-picked individuals so easily appointed to these positions?
I'm glad that this went through. I think it's the right thing to do.
I'm concerned that it went through on 5-4. Then again, I feel somewhat content that we do have some varying opinions within SCOTUS. I suppose I'd rather we have conflicting opinions for the advancement of discussion than 9 Justices all working towards the same agenda.
Imagine a coin. Good is one one side and bad is on other. Then there are lawyers, which are opposite to both sides. They are greater than both good and evil, able to walk on edges between good and bad. And there is NYCL, he is in oppsoition to lawyers, and he is one of them. The most mythical man of all dimensions. He is the one which trims the edges, uncovering thruth before our eyes. He is the son of justice. ...Sundays! On FOX!
Here's my simple and sweet answer. If my computer already had a wiimote, wiiwheel and a wiifit i wouldn't buy a wii. But your computer doesn't need any of those add-ons. Going back to your previous point, what your computer does need is a keyboard for input. This is why computers (those commercially sold as a complete system) include a keyboard. It is necessary to the PC operation prior to the OS loading.
That is why the keyboard comes with the PC, and not the OS. This is also why a keyboard is not packaged with a game console. The interface is not intended for regular input from a keyboard, therefore it is unnecessary to include it as a standard feature.
That doesn't really matter. computers ALL have keyboards, it's a given. As long as you have to buy the keyboard extra for the console the PC will always have that advantage to it. you can't design a MMO around keyboard usage on the console and expect it to do anything but flounder and as long as you only have a controller then it will continue to be inadequate. But video game systems have always been itemized, with the exception of the early Nintendo system. You will not get everything you need for games you may not buy in one package. USB keyboards are available for the option of expansion.
It's not unfair to request that the publisher of the MMO provide a USB Keyboard (a small one, such as the ProBoard mentioned previously) in the packaging. If Rockstar can package a safe-deposit box in GTA then a compacted keyboard can be included in FFXI or a WoW port.
When the Wii debuted, it wasn't packaged with the Wii Wheel or the WiiFit mat on the pretense that you might buy those games. Those items were packaged with the game. When Final Fantasy XI debuted for the Playstation 2 it was packaged with the harddrive needed to play it.
Consoles are itemized, and the required components for a particular game should be made available with the game, not the console.
Actually, the Logitech ProBoard was sold for about $20 and was fully compliant for the PS2 and Final Fantasy XI. I've recently discovered it works on both the X-Box 360 and the Wii.
You mean Apple stood up to Verizon's phone-crippling tactics? Bravo! Yes, but in doing so not only limited their market share but made themselves look to be the "bad guy" in all of this.
Apple wanted a large carrier for the iPhone. Verizon wouldn't offer them the freedom they wanted, AT&T would. Alltel simply didn't have the numbers (I believe 12 million subscribers to AT&T's 70 million and Verizon's 60 million) so it made sense to reward AT&T with an exclusive agreement in exchange for freedom when it came to the phone.
Eventually, the iPhone will probably be available for multiple carriers. Remember the RAZR? It was with one carrier in particular for a while, now they come in the mail with a copy of Frampton Comes Alive.
I have been looking for a new phone starting last week. My first choice was a iphone, oops cannot
get one anywhere even the old model since everything has been showing out of stock for the last month. So I said the hell with apple and bought a lg vu. If it turns out I do not like the vu it
is getting returned for a good ole reliable always kicks ass only needs charging every 4 days software rich blackberry for $99. I'm assuming, much like the new iPhone, that's with a contract?
As far as I recall, Apple was actually shopping around for a few different providers. Apparently when they were in talks with Verizon there were too many demands on Verizon's end. (Surprised?) AT&T was the largest carrier available willing to let the phone be what Apple wanted it to be. Just something to think about.
But can I get it on the Verizon network? Where I live, Verizon is the best provider so I'm unwilling to switch to ATT just for the iPhone. No. It's GSM. You'd have to use CDMA on Verizon.
Oddly enough, one program, "Loopt" is available on both providers, but I cannot find it in any of the App listings on Vz's website.
It goes further. From the Wikipedia article:
The proposed agreement would allow border officials to search laptops, MP3 players, and cellular phones for copyright-infringing content. It would also impose new cooperation requirements upon internet service providers (ISPs), including perfunctory disclosure of customer information, and restrict the use of online privacy tools. The proposal specifies a plan to encourage developing nations to accept the legal regime.
Interesting.

There was considerable outrage among the Swedish. One vocal protestor was quoted as stating: "B'york b'york! Mmb'york york burdy hurdy m'yurdy!"
Does it help to think of it as a project fork?
If you can't promise that, keep it off my phone.

I'm torn on this.

Spam? Spit? What's next? Spam in Everday Reading Material?
"I'm getting sick of the SPERM in the morning paper."
Half of the problem is with Safari, the other half is with IE. Let's give credit where credit is due.
If it weren't for Safari downloading the files to the desktop by default, they wouldn't get there.
If it weren't for IE opening these files from the desktop by default, they wouldn't open.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to feel completely secure. I'm going to go install my old copy of OS/2 Warp v3 and Netscape Communicator.

50% of statistics are completely made-up. 40% of all people know that.
