The/. summary is misleading. It isn't MySQL that is going to be closed-sourced, it's just that Sun will develop additional products that MySQL customers will be able to buy and use with their GPL MySQL server if they so choose. This isn't really news, MySQL AB has done so before, for example with the most excellent MySQL Enterprise Monitor. Thanks for the clarification, too bad the original words aren't as clear. My first read was doom and gloom, but now I'll sleep better. Thanks.
This is what we've now started calling "Another One of Those" it seems. Too bad, the demand for a compliant browser hasn't over come the supply of one that isn't.... yet.
I can see that Ubuntu is a part of my computing future, no way around that coming, it's arrived. Yet, some windows programs I have invested in I didn't want to throw away, solution: Install 64bit Ubuntu, then installed 64bit VMware Workstation 6 (worth a whole article alone) and then 'inside' the VMware mount installed 64bit XP pro for the had to have programs in the windows environment. Yes, indeed Ubuntu is easy to do, unless of course you try to get your microphone to work(hey, I'm not perfect) but I can hear sound on the guest virtual machine, so I"m close to getting all things in one computer.
I am also a former Mambo, now Joomla CMS user and really looking forward to the 1.1 version. http://www.justforkitsap.com/ is the "Joomla Powered" effort thus far.
I see on places like netcraft.com that some hosts are dropping phpBB for other forum applications, due to the high levels of support required by that top ten listee. I don't use it anymore after reading about so many exploits.

So why did they start offering ubuntu, if they're not going to offer ubuntu? Half steps make for a long slow journey.

I do like hearing that progress in being made on the FireFox browser, I use it quite a lot and the various extensions to same. Keep on keeping on, Guy
Just installed this AM, haven't tried every 'bell and whistle' what I have tried works fine, two thumbs up. Good job.

Good point, for 'mission-critical' hosting is what really matters and the OS of choice still seems to prevail.
It's definitely faster, had no issues installing, proving the Irish are indeed lucky. Keep up the good work, liking what I see so far.
