...the way he should be treated: like a human with a brain.
I let him play whatever he wants to, unless it has major sexual themes or racism. For the most part, his 9 year old brain is addicted to WoW, like I am, but he knows when to turn the game of. He knows the difference between fantasy and reality. He knows that its just a game, regardless of what he's playing.
His current game list includes WoW, anything Zelda, anything Metroid, anything Mario Bros & Doom. Does he go out and hit things with hammers, throw turtle shells at dragons, try to cast "Sheep" on foes at school? No. He's a smart kid that does not blur fantasy and reality. And guess what? I have the best time playing these games with him too.
This all falls on the ability of the parent to convey to their child that "It's just a game, no matter how realistic or unrealistic the graphics & gameplay are". If you cannot do that, then you failed as a parent.
What you need to do is educate people on how to read the damn url instead of selling them on security measures that the allegedly secure website uses.
Education. Is. The. Key.
This reminds me a lot of people that used to open the "brittany_spears_naked.jpg.vbs" files in their outlook express email clients.
Half the people that are scammed fall for this stuff because they don't know how to properly read a URL or a filename. It's not that difficult, but in the beginning, when they get their Internet Cherry popped, it can be confusing. People should have to pass a test before they can have internet access. Like a drivers' license.
Its a small prevention measure that can really save people a lot of grief.
1. I never said it was cheap.
2. I never said it was easy or that no one was actually trying.
All I said was that the BULLSHIT the pharmaceutical industry focuses on is TREATMENT AS OPPOSED TO CURE. If your station in life isn't satisfying enough for you and you think that the people don't appreciate your work, then get a frycook job at McDonald's.
Obviously you've never had to watch a loved one suffer from the TREATMENT as much as the FUCKING DISEASE. Asshole.
YES!
If everyone is fixed and not broken, then where the fuck will the pharmaceutical and medical industries get their money from? They will never develop cures as long as we as a populous accepts treatments as the best thing for our money.
Our system is a treatment based system, not a system based on curing its people.
I am not surprised. I watched my mother in law die of lung cancer a few years ago. Her best (insurance-funded, of course) option was radiation & chemotherapy. A few months ago (July-August), I watched my father go through practically the same thing. Once again, his best (and also insurance-funded) option was radiation & chemotherapy. One bill I saw, that he had to fork out $225 for (co-pay for it being over $20k), was almost $21,000.
Why is there not a cure and treatments are our best option?
The fat ass American medical industry and the pharmaceutical industry can charge 10K per session to the Insurance Industry, who just plain rips off the American people.
It would be such a wonderful irony to see something that isn't patented become a cure...then it would be available to EVERY F*CK*NG PERSON who could throw down a few bucks for the cure, instead of having to rely on the bullshit fat ass Insurance, Medical and Pharmaceutical industries to give us these bullshit treatments that prolong the agony. There would be fierce competition for sales of this cure, therefore making the price of it affordable without the necessity for the Insurance company to intervene.
I agree. He got off easy. He knew what he was doing was illegal/wrong, but he did it anyway. Fuck everyone that thinks he's being screwed. You're probably the same group of people that think minimum wage is too low (you're not supposed to live off of minimum wage, fucktards).
I'd love to see the tune you people would march to if that was the movie you wrote a script for and your compensation is directly related to sales, which fall, when people download movies.
I'm not saying I'm innocent, but I don't bitch and cry, either. Oh...and I usually vote Democrat or Independent.
I love this show. It pains me to see that Corporate America is once again trying to ruin something good. Ron Moore & team have a good thing going right now with the new Battlestar, and if they were replaced with Cylon imposter writers by NBC I think it would negatively impact viewing and I think that new writers would skew the current story.
If all they are asking for is credit and compensation, what's the big deal? Its not as if NBC is not profiting. I'm no communist or socialist, but shit...share the wealth, NBC! Pay the people for their work!
...because wasn't the first PSP black? Maybe white people should be outraged because white and black weren't released at the same time?
Then, Indians and Asians can mourn the fact there isn't a brown or yellow PSP, and American Natives can mourn the lack of a red PSP model. Then, even after that, the Celts can protest the lack of a green PSP (after they cry about the white PSP not being released w/ the black model), and homosexuals can protest that there isn't a rainbow PSP.
Fuck sony, and fuck the morons that "brought this to light" for not having better things to do with their lives.
My bad then. Totally misunderstood you. it seemed as if you were implying that their product was unhackable because it was not on the market yet. looks like i need more coffee...
We'll see about that. You must have never browsed a bittorrent. Every console has their games being pirated and though it may take some time to figure out how to do it, not a g0dd@mn thing is unhackable.
...compared to how much most of you suckers will pay for it on E-Bay. I want to just say "Thank You" ahead of time to everyone that will make me rich by buying this console system at an even more inflated price when I throw mine up there.
While I am complete in awe of DoS and DDoS, they do cripple entire businesses. Exectued the way the haxor(s) would like them to be executed, they would ruin lives (and cause suicides in Japan...akin to murder?). Maybe the penalty needs to be tiered to the severity of the damage instead of a flat 10 years?
Nice with the ad hominem, but what's the point of name calling when I can prove you're off base.
Name calling is fun. That's why I do it. Its part of my Freedom of Speech. Plus, name calling adds to my zeal, since I prefer name calling to killing, which is also the result of zeal.
And none of what you've said changes the fact that in the military if you fuck up, people die.
In alot of professions, if you fuck up, people die - doctors, scientists that develop medicines, engineers that design automobiles, etc etc. However, they are not denied all access to information. The thing is, and maybe I was horrible at pointing this out because of my irrational name-calling, but the sites that appear to be blocked are sites that have a differing point of view or political opinion than the Ggreat Republican War Machine. That's fucked up. That's censorship. And if that is what they are doing, its bullshit...military or not. Maybe, just maybe, they should find a good reason to go to war instead of censoring what keeps leaking into the media.
And, in regards to your last paragraph, eat me. Is that intelligent enough for you? Please dumb down your next intellectual rant so my feeble immature mind can understand it, you fuck. I'm not the captain of the debate team, which you apparently are or were, so me and my opinions must not be good enough for most other folks.
Maybe we just differ in opinions. I'm not a military person. Never was, never will be. They are a necessary evil, as the country needs protecting, and I respect that. I do not respect the misguiding or misappropriation of information.
Blech. I'm done.
wow. all i can think right now is that you are a misguided conservative military fanatic...or a soldier. censorship, regardless of the reason(s), is fucked up. if you don't like that, move to China, where they censor information to guide the people in the governments' direction.
I'm sure the rules are different in the military...soldiers would question and/or think about their duty if they know the truth. And that's bad, i guess, to know the truth. So go back to your foxhole and hide your head, soldier. Kill kill Kill.
And before you say it...no, i don't hate america.
isn't this the same thing that they bitch about China doing? If one of the basic tenants of our "democracy" (representitive republic) is "Freedom of Speech", how is it that the military blocks websites? And, in particular, websites of people with political opinions pertaining to getting the troops out of another failed war?
True, true. However, I do not think this would be an issue if it wasn't for spammers in the first place. I'm not saying that I think that the "Email Tax" is the right way to go about it, I just know first hand that things like bandwidth, server hardware, spam filter software, etc. costs money and (believe what you want) but I think this is how they are going to cover the costs. Is that the only motivation for the tax? Probably not. But these things cost money, and being the self proclaimed expert on this, I'd expect you to understand that rather than take a one sentence excerpt from my post and attempt to shred it.
Hmm. Pong vs. World Of Warcrack? (or even super mario bros.) I think I know where I stand on this one....

heh...nah, its not. that would be pretty fucking sweet, though.
I sit on a gigabit fiber connection. :)
*Nothing* takes that long to load...lol.
Shit. All of the "Additional Content" would be available via download sooner or later anyway.

The company I work for has an Intranet Site that uses frames, up to 6 to be exact. I've not seen my cpu percentage spike above 25% yet...

how can you justify it being unhackable by not being released yet? that's as ridiculous as Windows being called "secure".
We'll see about that. You must have never browsed a bittorrent. Every console has their games being pirated and though it may take some time to figure out how to do it, not a g0dd@mn thing is unhackable.

um...its called sarcasm.
