  1. Why it works on Users as Innovators - Why Open Source Works · · Score: 0

The reason open source works is because people are working towards a common goal. Why are people shocked to find out that something good can be produced without promise of huge profits. Thank you open source:)

I'm not entirely sure, but I would imagine 64GB being over-kill on a single MB... it would probably(almost certain) be too much for 1 processor, but I'm not sure. If it's possible, I'd be interested in pictures.

Is anyone aware of a hacker con taking place in Canada? That would be awesome, although, I can't guess how many people would go... there aren't many of us up here. Its good to hear that hacker cons haven't been shut down.. although, it does beg the question: how long until they try to? Then what do we do?

I have been looking for a nice distro to put on my Acer Travelmate 2200 for sometime. All I want is something that works with my wifi card, supports my sound card, and my wireless optical Logitech mouse. If I could combine that distro with a good environment, I'd be sold. 16. So True on BBC Writer Tries PC Repair, Finds Poor Software · · Score: -1

He then flames the whole world of computer repairmen as 'a bunch of unqualified amateurs.' It is so true. I have dealt with countless 'techies' who claim to be able to fix my problem(usually resort to them after much frustration) only to find out its a faulty component or something like that all along. I once had to pay a guy I bought a component from to tell me the component he sold me was defective!

  21. Installations too Bloated on Gnome Removed From Slackware · · Score: 1

I often find that their are WAY too many options shipped with a distro. Why not keep it simple start designing better all-around software, rather then 100 alternatives to the most essential linux tools? I think SOME collaboration is a good idea.

  22. Just curious on Navy Commissions Open Source R&D · · Score: 1, Redundant

Why wouldn't the entire gov't use open-source? Most cost analysis studies show that Linux is cheaper in the long run not to mention more secure. The studies that indicate Windows to be cheaper are obviously biased.

The reality is, is that if open-source isn't the option then we might as well be handing everything over to one insane little geek rather then a community. Live long and prosper Linux!
