  8. Turf War on MS Calls On Kids to Stop Thought Thieves · · Score: 2, Interesting

The school yard is Microsoft's patch. They have been dealing their product to minors in an attempt to get them hooked for life for some time now. They won the last turf war and things have been settled for a while now, but there are some new kids on the block and Microdick is going for the hit.

This is going to get ugly.

  10. DRM Alternative on Britons Frustrated by DRM · · Score: 3, Interesting

There is a DRM alternative in the way of an inaudible signature key inside a waveform. You can use the files as you see fit, however if they are found on a P2P network you will get busted because they will have your details from when you purchased the track. You can even burn the audio file, rip it, re-encode it and the signature will still be there.

  11. Wrong! on Microsoft Drops Blaster Author's Fine · · Score: 0, Redundant

This kid did not write the blaster virus! He just made a varient that involved small changes and his varient infected 50,000 computers.

The real blaster virus infected nearly 10 million computers.

  12. The Traxsource.com Approach on Jon Johansen Breaks iTunes DRM Yet Again · · Score: 2, Interesting

I just started to buy house music from http://www.traxsource.com/ as a replacement of vinyl now that I have my digital 1200's: http://www.panasonic.com/consumer_electronics/tech nics_dj/video_flash.asp?/

Traxsource uses an inaudible signature key inside the waveform but the files are DRM free. You can use the files as you see fit, however if they find a file with your signature on it (they can identify you by analysing the file with their software) in the P2P networks they will crack down on you and probably sue if you can't explain yourself (they are a friendly bunch of music lovers after all). You can even burn the file, rip it, re-encode it and the signature will still be there.

    http://www.smh.com.au/news/Heckler/Lies-damn-lies- and-statistics/2005/03/20/1111253883481.html?

I call every statistic a lie until I see the raw sample figures and how they were gathered. There should be an international standard on how stats are gathered and quoted. I'm sick to fucking death of statistic manipulation. Although in this particular case I don't really care and would not at all be surprised if it was true.
