Oh God, not planetary porn. Ugh, I can see it now. Lots of plants with gigantic penises and breasts tacked onto them in some kind of freakish bukkake orgy. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised I haven't seen it on 4chan already.
XSLT is turing complete, and I would argue that knowing XSLT usually doesn't make you a programmer. Although if you can learn XSLT well, you probably have the skills to become one.
Exactly. The best option here is to just use something different from what most other people are using.

You're incorrect. ECMAScript is only at edition 3. There's work being done on edition 4, but it isn't here yet.
JavaScript and ActionScript have extensions to ECMAScript that are expected to be incorporated into the 4th edition, and Tamarin will/does support those extensions.
ECMAScript began as a standardization of JavaScript. Now JavaScript, ActionScript, JScript, and other scripting languages are based on ECMAScript. Mozilla isn't creating a new language named "ECMAScript", they're just switching engines.
Like all power tools, if the operator doesn't know how to use it properly, it can cause injury to the operator and/or others.
Learning how to use something shouldn't mean you have to learn how it works. It takes time to learn how to drive, but I never had to learn how my car works.
Thanks for crashing Firefox for me asshat. I was expecting an explanation of the problem, not the actual exploit. Fortunately Firefox recovered everything and I was able to close the tab before it reloaded.
All the Japanese anime I've seen has them, and they're specific to the show. They're called an eyecatch. During half-hour shows there's only one commercial break, so each show has 2 eyecatches.
Why are you using "was"? Did they remove it from IE7? I really like the idea, if not the implementation. When I first learned about it I though for sure it would become popular and continue the whole "embrace, extend, and extinguish" thing. Any references?
Even grandmas know how to click "OK". You're right that some people aren't meant to be upgrading operating systems, but that's exactly why they need an operating system that does it for them automatically. That's exactly why Linux is not ready for the average person.
The free CDs seemed pretty awesome at the time, but I don't think it'll cause the same excitement again. Waiting around week after week for something you can download for free (and probably already have) zaps a lot of the fun out of it. Although it was still cool to get those CDs in the mail. Now a free Tux poster, that would be the shit.

I keep hearing that Linux is ready for the desktop and it's easier to use than Windows. I used to think it might be true, but I keep seeing shit like this. What percentage of Windows XP users went to Microsoft.com to read instructions about how to install Service Pack 2 via the command line? Most of them didn't do anything because it was done automatically.
Unless it's just the website that sucks and Ubuntu users will be automatically upgraded in the next few days, Ubuntu is not as easy to use as Windows. Normal users aren't going to check for updates, normal users aren't going to understand what's going on, and normal users aren't going to know how to use the command line.
Don't get me wrong; I've tried Linux on and off and I can see progress. I think open-source operating systems will overtake Windows eventually. But damn it is sure taking forever! I wish somebody would try to make an operating system for real normal users, not the "normal users" that keep up with news about their operating system and go searching the internet for command line instructions.
It's really obvious why they did this; the character looked gay and Blizzard hates gay people. They've banned guilds from advertising sexual preferences, and they don't do anything about in-game gay bashing. If they didn't hate gay people, Blizzard would give players an option about which design they want their character to be instead of just forcing the more "masculine" one on them.
Too bad it's not an option for the majority of computer users. If the Konqueror team actually cared about getting people onto a better browser they would have a Windows version available at Konqueror.org.

JavaScript 1.7 already has generators and iterators. Even if they don't become part of ECMAScript 4, JavaScript will probably keep them.
Anyway, there are many languages without native support for threads that do just fine with using libraries. See XPCOM's nsIThread.

Poo! You left out XPCOM!

The W3C was very resistant to further work on HTML. The group pushing for advances in HTML is the WHATWG.
BTW, I love Atom, but there's really not much support for it compared to the various RSS "standards". Your example seems to go against your point.

Both of their installers are generally getting bigger. Firefox is just ahead of Opera. Opera is lagging behind.

More specifically, it's GLSL - OpenGL Shading Language. It was an extension to 1.5 before becoming part of 2.0.
There's also HLSL - High Level Shader Language, the Microsoft proprietary technology. It's part of DirectX.
No HTML WYSIWYG editor, no email client, no news client, no IRC client. Yeah, I can totally see how Firefox is more bloated than SeaMonkey.
