It's not the people you have to worry about, it's the Disney Corporation. Good luck getting anything which doesn't actually extend copyright again past those deep pockets, brother. Hell, now they can even run campaign ads to buy the Congressmen they need.
What leadership? You mean continuing to launch one $700 million shuttle after another and constantly making promises that they never delivered on? The U.S. hasn't led anything in human exploration since Apollo. All they've been doing for the last 40 years on that front is delivering animations of ships and missions that never pan out and holding press conferences about how *one day* we're going to the moon and/or Mars (promises which get pushed back every few years). The cancellation of Constellation was just a tacit admission of what anyone with eyes, ears, and any memory at all has known for a long time.
It's only crazy if you don't get down to the REAL translation of what he's saying: "I'm running for Governor as a conservative and would like public support."
You mean the 40 years when the Soviets put up the first space station and out the first probes on Venus and Mars? And how about the 30 years that the U.S. has wasted launching one useless space shuttle mission after another, that part of those 40 too?
First in space, first satellite, first man in space, first orbit, first woman in space, first probes on Venus and Mars, first space station--not bad for a bunch of thugs, eh comrade?
...And yet still not sensitive enough to measure how fast I jumped when my niece recently asked me if I wanted a Miley Cyrus ticket too.

They certainly were. One of my memories as a kid was buying a Superman comic book that featured a promotional extra story (funded by Radio Shack of course) where some kids helped Superman fight the bad guys with the help of their TRS-80's. And yes, it was every bit as bad as it sounds. Not only was it a blatant attempt at getting kids to beg their parents for TRS-80's, but it so laughably exaggerated what TRS-80's could actually do, it was well into fraudulence. The kids were shown wearing headsets connected their TRS-80's to communicate with Superman, for example--even though I'm pretty sure the TRS-80, if it even had a sound card, certainly didn't have anything that could input voice (much less broadcast it to Superman).
Hardware lockdown then, but now software too

The *hardware* was locked down for sure. It's the same today, the hardware on a lot of name-brand computers is often locked down, but you can still build your own from the case up if you like. But, IIRC (and I was just a kid), the software on the Apple II's *wasn't* locked down. I seem to remember a friend programming in BASIC on his IIc, and third-party developers selling games for Apple's. This new generation of iPhones/iPad's/iWhatever's is different in that they are almost completely locked down even at the software side. That's way worse than just not being able to add some third-party memory chip.
The mainstream Apple notebooks and PC's are still open, it's true. But no way would I give my kid one of these iToys as his primary computer. I want him to be able to program and experiment the way I used to in BASIC back in the day.

I'm pretty sure Woz came to terms with that realization decades ago. He hasn't had a say in any of Apple's higher level decisions since his plane crash in 1981, and he hasn't worked for them at all since 1987. He probably doesn't even think of it as "his" company anymore (if he ever really did). The guy has done a lot of cool stuff since then, and is probably way more interested in talking about his more recent engineering diversions (like his attempts to get Toyota's attention about their accelerator problems) than discussing the philosophy of a company he left behind when The Bangles were still Walking Like an Egyptian.
Again, I'm talking genetics here. The recent PBS series Face of America dealt with this much better than I can. But Indians are genetically Asian (no surprise since you can look at them and see that). Australian aboriginals and New Guinean's are genetically African (though of an ancient branch). Of course, when you get into interpretations of race, you can mire down in all kinds of debates. But genetically, there is no such thing as an "American Indian," or a "Hispanic," or an "Italian," etc. You can only meaningfully test for percentages of African/Asian/European genotypes (though you can go back far enough to when even these "races" become muddied).
The problem is that Sony cares way more about locking down and commoditizing their media content with DRM and "security meseasures" than they do about their customers (one of the inherent problems of having a hardware maker who is also a media producer). They're not alone on that (MS and Nintendo are hardly open themselves), but they do seem much more obsessed about it than just about anyone else--short of maybe Apple.
The problem is that Sony doesn't seem to be thinking much about the fact that their media is only worth something in the first place BECAUSE of their customers. And, if they're not careful, they could very easily lose their balance and fall. After all, the perfect way to produce a piracy-proof blu-ray of a movie or videogame is to simply release it as a blank disc. But no one is going to buy it then, are they?
No, there is one word to explain that: blu-ray. It's the same reason there as very little DVD movie piracy in the mid-late 90's (very few people had burners and security cracks yet).
No, he's Hollywood's, trial lawyers', and organized labor's bitch. Newspaper endorsements are inconsequential compared to ad campaigns by corporations and interest groups, and even still most newspapers do expect and get special treatment from candidates. Presidents don't just hand out one-on-one interviews to just any podunk newspaper or network, and the process is often politicized based on support (i.e. Democrats avoid Fox, Republicans avoid MSNBC).
I don't wish death on anyone. Just making the observation that no sane god would decide to let Jim Henson die while this assclown gets to keep making movies.
You know, for a group that's supposedly so disillusioned with the Republican Party, I sure see a lot of lifelong Republican Party bigwigs getting cheered at your rallies and waving the Teabag flag at every opportunity. You say you want to get rid of the Republicans who ran up the deficit under Bush, but those are the very same people I see headlining most of your rallies. I mean, you do realize that your heroes Mitch McConnell and John Boehner were part of that group that ran up the deficit, right? Did I miss the throngs of Teabaggers calling for them to replaced? No...is that silence I hear?!?!?!?
So either you're lying, or you're a bunch of dupes--which is it?
When most campaign money is used to buy advertising of one form or another, what's the practical difference? Does it make any difference whether I'm saying "Senator, here is $10,000 in cash" or "Senator, here is $10,000 in free advertising"? Either way, he's my bitch now.
They're the bastards that killed Apollo Creed in that one Rocky movie.

Somewhere out there, Sergey Korolyov must be having a chuckle over this one.
Led the space race? You mean like how you dragged ass way behind the Soviets from 1957-1967? You have a funny definition of "leading."
