Until relatively recently, the idea of a television series getting a proper "ending" was unheard of. A TV series would run until the network canceled it, and then it would just stop. David Banner was never going to find a cure for his Hulk disease, the Fugitive never would find his one-armed man, The Prisoner would never escape from the island. The idea of a special "final episode" that marked an explicit and unambiguous end to a TV series didn't really come along until the 80's. The idea of a "final seasons" and even the rare series with a definite running time for the whole *series* (such as Babylon 5 and some BBC series) followed even later.
The problem with Wall Street wasn't that they were using stable and proven models for the purpose of honest study, it's that they were using unsustainable and unproven models for the purpose of obscuring reality.
The summary doesn't make this completely clear and the website only reveals this in a FAQ section, but this is ONLY available for tickets written in New York City, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.
Hey, don't just dismiss this. As someone who nearly died from a nasty bout of Pac-Man Fever back in the 80's, I can tell you that videogame-related illnesses are no laughing matter.
I'm going out and immediately start buying CD's again--like I did 15 years ago, in the studios' heydey. Or, at least, that's what Sony is thinking I'll do now, apparently.
Actually, we don't have any proof of ANYTHING. We have the claims of one woman, who everyone immediately assumes must be telling the truth (the whole truth). I'm just saying the fact that she included her sexual orientation in her profile is a strange element to the story and raises doubts about her motivations. Most people don't put such anything in their profiles unless it's something they're wanting to trumpet (usually involving what games they're best at, not intimate details about their their personal life).
And by the way, you Political-Correctness cops (who think "Troll" is synonymous with "Anyone I disagree with") can keep modding me down all you like. You're only burning your mod points (which is probably for the best, as you'll only misuse them to silence people who dare challenge your dogma).
90% of people use IE because 90% of people just want a basic browser, and don't really care about things like extensions, better security, better features, etc. that browsers like Firefox provide. IE is installed by default so they just use that. It's the same reason 90% of PC users use Windows Media Player to play their audio and video files rather than one of the numerous other superior media players out there.
in that they consider the computer broken if web access isn't working
I suspect that will be MS's essential defense of bundling a default brower (IE) with Windows. People EXPECT any modern OS to come with a default browser. Most of them don't even realize the browser is a distinct program from the OS itself. The argument against MS not bundling a browser with their OS is a relic from the 90's. These days it would be suicide for anyone to release an OS without built-in web capability right out of the box.
I'm not advocating banning anyone (except fucking cheaters and griefers). I'm just saying that I'm not sure the person in question can be taken at face value. Someone who makes it a point to mention their sexual orientation (or race, or religion, or whatever) in their gamer profile is quite possibly someone who is *trying* to be provocative and cause trouble. And people like that are often banned for reasons unrelated to simply "being a X." I bet I could get banned too if I wrote "I'm a proud heterosexual" in my profile and then went running around in every game I played screaming into the mic "I'm a proud heteroseuxual! Heterosexuals rule! Shove it up your asses if you don't like it!"
The challenge to this is to ask yourself to face the converse implication. Would you be okay with someone putting "I'm a heterorsexual and only want to game with other heterosexuals" in their gamer profile? Would you be okay with a whites-only game guild, and okay with it being advertised as such?
I mentioned my wife in online discussions, I don't advertise her like a trophy in my gamer profile, jackass. You think I run around in Halo 3 yelling, "Hey everyone, let me tell you about my wife! Did I mention I'm straight?"
What kind of "fan" wants to keep his show going even if it means that it devolves into an embarrassment? Why can't we just be happy with 4 great seasons and leave it at that? In the UK, the BBC does this all the time. They had two great seasons of The Office and then they moved on. Only in America will they run a series into the ground just because they can't let go (or want to milk it for every penny it's worth).
Why would anyone write about their husband/wife, sexual orientation, race, religion, or their favorite breed of dog in a GAMER PROFILE?!?!? It's a gamer profile, not your fucking personal blog.
I was a huge Futurama fan when it was on TV, so it pains me greatly to say this. But if you can't do better than those terrible new DVD releases, please *DON'T* bring this show back. I don't know if they got different writers for those movies, or whether the writers they brought back just lost their edge, but those were just embarrassing. Each release has managed to be even worse than the previous one.
But if Matt Groening has proven nothing else with The Simpsons, it's that he has absolutely no understanding of the phrase "finishing while you're on top" and all-too-much understanding of "run it into the ground until it's a pathetic shadow of its former greatness."
Exactly. It sounds to me like she wanted to get banned. I'm against banning people for their sexual orientation, race, religion, etc. But if you're some activist who has set out to TRY and piss people off with the purpose of getting banned, that's another story. Getting banned for putting "Allah is great! Christians and Jews are the devil!" in your profile is NOT the same as getting banned for "being a Muslim."

Never did trust him.
None of them seem to have served him very well in the end.

I'd say they lost whatever souls they had back when they started to help China throw journalists in prison.
All you need to know is that one can be used to purchase the other.

Bah! Their swords are small and curved. Our swords are long, straight, and manly!

uhhhhh...I'll get the powder, sir.
It was truly an odd thing for Google to say just days after they joined the EU antitrust case against MS over the this very distinction.
I think more American TV shows should adopt the BBC model. Do two really great seasons and then move on to another project.

Don't forget the schizo chick who requires you to constantly tinker with her to get her to do even simple shit (Linux guru).
Be warned, Web Czars and Grammar Nazis always end up at war.
