I'm sticking to my belief that the core of the planet blew out through Olympus Mons. Just the mental image of the planet squirting out magma like a massive pimple is too cool to give up.
It would be difficult to get a sufficient number of people to work on the project reliably See. That is the reason for my comment on the Xorg article to the fact of "if someone insists on something being in your code tell them to pay you or f'off". Projects shouldn't be a matter of "getting enough people together to produce something". FOSS projects should be love'm or leave'm.
QT isn't exactly the only game in town for foss_gui. If QT fell off the map the underlying technology that lets QT draw the pretty pictures will continue to work fine.
I'm right there with you as far as principles go. Which brings it back to "pay or f'off". If someone wants something from you that is in addition to what you were planning or had time to do they should pay you. If these guys want QT to have BSware in it then they should pay someone to write it then ask for hooks to implement it within QT. If they kill QT over it then it is the original developers that get screwed. And trust me, if you screw the original developers on a project you will already have your "enough people" to fork the project.
I've never met a creationist that would accept anything as evidence contradicting their beliefs. Faith requires a leap. Just the existence of reason alone is proof of evolution. The only thing guaranteed is a creationist would argue against any proof until they die, and more so the closer the information gets to be indisputable fact. My point being, the argument has no merit. The answer has no benefit to anyone but a creationist and, perhaps, the individual that just likes to argue.
Sorry if I don't complain but... Take your time guys and get it right. If people want to bitch, moan, and rush things give them the account number to send cash to. After the check clears they can have the complaint-dept@X.org email address.
If you use POP3 on really hefty mailboxes it occasionally decides that all the messages are "new" and downloads them all again. Very annoying. You must be leaving messages on the server. This tends to happen if the amount of email in the inbox gets too large and your connection gets snafu'd on the actual disconnect. I almost never see it happen to pop users because most of them don't let email pile up on the server. aka server abuse
If you use IMAP there seems to be no easy way to tell it to always download a local copy of all messages in all folders. Perhaps there's a magic flag somewhere that I haven't found, but the closest I seem to be able to find is downloading the text of the messages that I've read (not the same thing). I consider that to be a feature. There is nothing more annoying then someone pulling ever folder down every time they connect. $10 says, outside of your inbox, you look at no more than 2 other folders. Unless your confusing this with filtering email from your remote inbox into the folders you've created locally the problem is your own fault. aka server abuse
Two out of three of your issues are related to server abuse. More proof as to why I'm convinced 90% of all complaints, "opinions", and "suggestions" regarding email are cries for someone to notice the user's stupidity. IMHO. People should be given web mail accounts with 0 ability to customize anything until they have admin'd their own server for a year.
mmmm laaaid. oh sorry. anyway. I've always thought an email client that has a calendar layout and lists im threads within the days along with email would be the coolest client ever. I think IBM is the closest to what I want. I would prefer something only dependent on specifications like imap, webdav, ical... and not on server.
I loved mine. The coupler for it was a breakthrough. Storing files on the 3.5" floppy was cool but time consuming. It was physically indestructable but didn't hold up to high temps for very long. I blew mine up twice sitting cross legged with a blanket on my lap. I wouldn't realize how hot it was getting because I was busy writing. The add on ROM was wonderful. Gates did a fantastic job on it.
Why can I never go to the store and check something like this out and decide on if I want to buy it. From everything I've read about it, I most likely would.
That's it. I'm opening a restaurant called RESTAURANT!. I will be selling FOOD! on the menu because food isn't quite good enough. Oh! No! Wait! I'll call it the RESTAURANT GOOD!; because, one cap'd-n-bang'd word isn't quite good enough. btw. how are those linux drivers for dual ati graphics cards going? yeeeeeaaaaah thought so. there like TOTALLY GAME!
Lets face it. Doing anything in the technology field requires a lot of economic resources. In the states, at least, people with money have been spoon fed opportunity like geese getting ready to loose their livers. Investors don't have to give a rats about anything but returns, and care even less about the engineers that create the stuff that makes them money.
it would be more of a storm about it because it is not that acceptable.
Agreed. There is no way something like that would not get posted all over the web. I'd bet a crisp $50 that the majority of Linux/. have gmail accounts. If 20 users had an issue we would see ^10 that many threads complaining about it.
I don't know what the deal is with people on/. having Firefox issues. I've never seen Firefox issues on any of our Linux boxes. Our hardware is very diverse too. 64/32 bit from old i585 boxes to multicore intel and amd boxes. Most machines are running Debian. About an equal number are using Ubuntu and CentOS. None of these include sales or marketing but I find it hard to believe the complaints on/. are because users are not technical. I don't think anyone is using KDE though. Maybe that is the connection.
i actually like having different "looks" for different apps. being able to right click on the screen to get the menu, so i don't have to have a "start" menu, is more important to me than uniformity. anyway, you can have it both ways without using either window manager. ie. gtk and qt are not gnome and kde.
wouldn't there have been at least half as many trips to mars if they weren't so hell bent on trying to figure out if there is life there? could we get on with the process of making it a habitable place instead of waisting trips on "theological i told you so" science projects?
well. first, it isn't just 3d rendering. blender's functionality runs from one end of the graphics world to the other. second, 1 percent of people do not equal 1 percent of machines. 3d rendering is done on computer farms. microsoft doesn't sell "a" copy of the os to do rendering. they sell thousands of "licenses" to a company to do rendering.
Holy shit! Lichen don't just grown on trees! This thread is edumicational.
If your looking for something that "keeps gas close to it" to send to mars can I suggest these assholes

hmmm I wonder if someone "important"

isn't ready to get in line so they

ask if it likes boobies.
Unless it naturally focuses on boobies when a woman enters the room then it was made by aliens.
