Sory for going off-topic but I thought this is a good train of thought.

This is the kinda stuff that really matters..congrats, eds. Please keep looking for stories that

    1. look into the future
    2. not FUD or troll
    3. interests the geeks of all flavors and distros
    4. have a logical scientific progression of what is and what will be
    5. may be come up with some kind of metric to improve the signal to noise ratio that parent alludes to. Tagging might help gauge what the readers think about a story. Here's one that can be a start (good or bad):

For every 10 stories selected, make the following selections: general scientific advancements (4), IT Tech (3), news and current affairs that do not have explicit political trolling (2) and let the last one be anything...whatever the whim seeks. For the whim can generate interesting ideas too.

It would not be wise to discount the situation: the threats are real (environmental change, population explosion, WMD in the hands of jackasses, biological warfare, ad infinitum). It is a ticking time bomb. This time, there is a real wolf out there. But when the crises will become catastrophes (it is not if, it is when), we will get to work...or something like that...Damn I forgot those grandsounding and corny movie speeches...where is Yoda when you need him?

Funny they are not calling this a beta product. I copy/pasted an RSS feed link (http://www.rediff.com/rss/inrss.xml), and my broswer stuck for a very long while with the "loading..." dialog (still stuck). My browser is firefox 1.07. Does anybody have a similar experience ?

Why do people not count Hussein as a terrorist?

You make a very valid argument here. So let's go invade china, north korea, sudan (for darfur), and all those countries. Let's go spread freedom all around the world, and rid those poor bastards of their terrorist rulers. Noble thought, but I smell something fishy here. The US did *not* go to Iraq for that reason. A country has to be expedient about picking fights. And validly so. There were other reasons for Iraq, as many ./ers have already so eloquently described.

The Bush admin has been successful in keeping the attacks from happening, and I am happy for that, and I congratulate them for each extra eventless day. But the invasion of Iraq has resulted in loss of focus from Afghanistan, and the monster of Iraqi insurgency is the added rub here.

Iraqi insurgancy is the much needed oxygen to the terrorists. Not focusing in Afghanistan was the point when they may have found some regrouping time. So it was almost like bottling the djinn and forgetting to cap the bottle.

Geez...thought it was bad enough with trying to get idiots using MS Outlook to quit putting crappy wallpaper on their emails...not to mention the other stuff. You get a 2 line email, that is like 1.5MB+ in size with all the formatting crap, dancing images....etc.
Funny....I have *never* received a mail with a wallpaper, and most of my friends (actually I do have some :D) use outlook. Just because they use windoze doesn't mean that they are dumb.

Granted bandwidth usage is an issue...but there are bigger bandwith eaters. Need I list them?
