I don't know where you get your information, but you're dead wrong. In Sweden catalytic converters have been mandatory for several decades. We use unleaded fuel. Average Swedish cars also use much less petrol/km (Weaker engines), which also means less polution.

Also keep in mind that catalytic convertion converts carbon monixide to carbon dioxide, which is less dangerouse, but still thought to be the main reason for the greenhouse effect. So in the end it's not good for the environment to use a car which uses oilproducts for fuel.

If serving huge amounts (>1 GB/hour)of static content from a single-CPU computer is what your server does, Apache is not for you. The Apache model will never do that as fast as Tux, Zeus or Boa.

But if you would stop to think for a while, you would see that no one does that. Nowdays, it's all about dynamic content. And in that case the overhead of using multiple threads is tiny compared to the added benefits of scalability and stability.

It is actually possible to use a kernel-based server like Tux for static content and let Apache take care of the dynamic bits.

The 11:th verse of the poem 'The Walrus and the Carptenter', from chapter 4 of Lewis Carrolls book 'Trough the looking-glass' reads like this:

'The time has come,' the Walrus said,

    'To talk of many things:

Of shoes - and ships - and sealing wax -

    Of cabbages - and kings

And why the sea is boiling hot -

You sure about that? The nazis had a very strong support in actual democratic elections. Very little, if any evidence points to any cheating within during the elections. I've never heard a historian dispute that a large majority of the Germans supported Hitlers actions.

But one should remember a few things though:

    • Even if a majority supported Hitler, millions of Germans where against him.

    • The nazis had almost complete media control.

    • War often makes people overly nationalistic.

    • The Verailles-treaty was more or less meant to permanently crush Germanys economy. Evil evil evil stupid.

    • Many other countries had strong Nazi sympathies. In my native Sweden I belive there was a majority in favour of Germany during the first years of the war.

I'm not trying to point a finger at the germans and say that they are/were bad people. Quite the opposite, I'm trying to say that even good, smart and kind poeple can do really horrible and destructive things.

Why is this such a big deal anyway? Heissenberg, one of many famous modern physisists might have been a Nazi. So was almost the entire german population for crying out loud.
