I have always been a hardcore anti-laptop pro desktop type guy.. that being said, I was in iraq. had been for 8 months, and I was getting desperate, in June of 07, I bought for $500 bucks, a refurbished, Dual Core, 1.6GHZ, 1GB Ram, 120GB HD, ATI 1200 Graphics, 15.4" Laptop, IT arrived with one keyboard key half on, which I promptly removed. One of the best purchases I have ever made. It get's the job done, upgradeable, and best of all, if the fucking thing breaks, It's only $500 out, not several grand, I still don't get why people drop several G's on lap's! (FYI, purchased from Tigerdirect).
I Download a metric FUCKTON of pirated material. I Get drunk and download a lot of porn off limewire. Even though I Check through the stuff, I have found porn that is legally "questionable" that being said, as long as they only prosecute terrorists and their ilk, wtf do I give if they Look at my Shit???
I am a huge NIN Fan, bought more of their albums then anyone else's besides manson's.. anyways, a couple years ago, after I lost my second CD Case, with over 70 CD's (I am a irresponsible, ADD asshole) I swore off buying CD's for the most part. I went to download the free NIN album.. and decided it was less of hassle to just bittorrent the thing.. (it required registration, email exchange etc) that being said I support this distribution model, and will support it when possible.
Let me clarify this. This ONLY Applies to networks and computers you use at work.... You only use these when you are at work.. if you are not using these for work it is to kill time, and there are a MILLION ways to kill time on the internet, that the censors have not gotten around to blocking, so this is not really a big issue. If you want to read something, read it when you get home.
Gracias, i have no fucking clue how somebody could mod me a troll, and as far as taking anything i say with a grain of salt, I live in Barracks Rm 531A Biggs army airfield, El Paso Texas, Feel free to stop by and get a Demonstration My Computer is:
AMD 5000+ 3 GHZ
ATI 3870
SB Xfi
2 Gigs Ram
Standard HD
I have no need to bullshit about what my setup does, and I don't bullshit either, I AM an AMD Fanboy, and just like their products better, probably just do to comfort with and experience with their products.
I'm the kinda guy who pushes any computer he has to the limits, and when I recently upgraded my computer, I went with the AMD 5000+ Black edition, and decided to wait on going quad. I Can play Crysis, while watching a movie on my 2nd monitor, no prob. About the only time I wish I had a quad core, is when I'm converting video, and other then that, can't really see much of a need for a quad.. let alone. Don't get me wrong, as soon as AMD Cranks out a worthwhile 45NM Quad, I will upgrade right quick, but It will be several several years until I even think about 8.
I admit I probably download a bit more then the average person, so if their new plan hits my area i'm screwed, right now I'm at 90GB over the last 6 days, so I'm crossing my fingers on this one
Can anyone try and give a quick ipV6 (benefits?) overview for someone who (relative to the rest of the world) is smart & computer savvy, but has ADD like a mofo, and is (relative to most slashdotters) network stupid.
Insurgents that just want us out of their country??? These people are terrorists! They terrorize the hell out of the LOCAL POPULATION, and do more damage to them, and their infrastructure than to us (I am a soldier in iraq as we speak). You sound like jane fonda during Vietnam, and need to move to god damn france with all the crap you are spouting, not even worth my time to tear apart the rest of your arguments.
well said, and your probably right. One other problem that I see here, not totally sure the reason (maybe they spent to much time reading WWII and Vietnam books that make mention of 27 year old Lt Colonel's and see their chance to get a bump up) but to much time is spent over here Turning differing FOB's and COP's into different commander's little Palace's and "Home away from home's" a ridiculous amount of soldiers time is spent doing landscapping/painting/cleaning CRAP that we are just going to turn over to the IA, or close down. also where I'm at (Up north, near the kurdish region) should have been turned over to the IA a long time ago... once again probably haven't so that whatever commander is in charge can keep looking good.
Do I think what we are doing in iraq is sane? Well I'm writing this message from iraq, and Yea I do. Did we make a lot of mistakes? Sure.. and as it stands, some things are better then when we started, and some things are worse, but If things are bad, they are the exception, not the rule. Also now the iraq people have hope, which is something they never had before.
With the 30GB Version on sale for $99, I picked it up. I wasn't really shopping for something of the sort, but $99 bucks is just to good of deal, also I saw the 80GB version @ $250 which I believe is a lot cheaper then then Ipod. My biggest annoyance is the inability to just plug the god damn thing in and copy files, but once again at 99 bucks I'll overlook a lot of shortcomings.. and I read a review that said you can't use the zune as a portable hard drive. If anyone has a workaround for this lemme know!
Several reasons. I'll reference the AMD 5000+ Black Edition because I just picked one up for my new computer I'm building ($130). It's built on the 65NM process, and overclock's easy to 3.3-3.5 GHZ. I Enjoy overclocking (Hobby) and I enjoy having a fast machine, even if I'm not using. Now I also do a lot of video/audio encoding, ripping so every mhz counts to get those tasks done quicker. So I'm getting an extra (effective) 1.8GHZ or so out of this CPU, and overall a damn fast processor, for 130 bucks.
You do it on accident because you don't know what your doing? My sister complained about getting connected to her neighbors wifi, and her computer doing it automatically, said it happened every once in a while and she couldn't stop it. Next time i visited i fixed the problem, but is this one of those times where ignorance would make it not illegal? (or even wrong) If it's not secured at all, the person who has the wifi should have some accountability, in my book.
The Japs enslaved foreign women and prostituted them out to their soldiers, and this was OK'd up to the highest levels of the military. the Japs commited war crimes as POLICY, I'm sure a fair number of american soldiers did some fucked up shit, but that's war. As far as dropping the A-Bomb, Fuck it, they started the shit, they should have surrendered if they didn't want to get fucked up, bottom line.
"(they couldn't even produce enough high-quality steel to fuel their own war effort, which was the original reason for their invasion of China, to secure the necessary resources ), and certainly at that point wasn't a real danger to anyone."
Ok, if you want resources, you BUY them, not start a god damn war, the reason for an invasion of China is they they assholes (to sum it all up in one word). As far as the A bomb, your just simplying making shit up, every book I have read so far, say's We had bombed the japs back to the stone age, but They refused to surrender, and their corrupted bushido code they were spouting would have had the entire populace armed with pitchforks fighting to the last breath, THEY refused to surrender, and we didn't want to start a land invasion, ergo, the A-Bomb. Did it save lives? That is a debatable point, but most of my reading leads me to believe it did.
I was on an SSN From '01-04, and all I ever heard/experienced was how crappy chinese subs were (nuclear that is). Electric boats will always be that wild card that can get lucky now and again and sneak into places, but their inability to perform longterm deployments and operations render then not much of a big threat. I Think the quote "the sun shines on a dog's ass every once in a while" sums up this incident. That being said, The clintons firesale of secrets to the fucking chinks during their tenure did NOT help things.
I agree with you on most points there, but throwing in that crap about iraq, not sure what it has to do with anything. I'm in iraq right now (as a combat arms soldier) I have 1 month left of a 14 month stint. I have a $400,000 life insurance policy. One of the things that give me piece of mind, is that no one in my family will be hurting for money if I die. The $400,000 may take a little bit to get to my family, but the army gives out some money right away to help with burial expenses..
I'm a cav scout in northern iraq, and being one of the few computer nerds out here, I spend a good amount of my free time fixing laptops, and once Vista become the norm on new laptops, every single person who has gotten a new one, has asked about going back to XP. at most they tolerate Vista, and these are people who should like vista right? Computer proficient, NOT savvy, some gamers, and yet they all hate it. When I went to buy a laptop I just picked up a refurbished one with XP. Some of these laptops don't even have drivers for XP!
It's been a few years (and a lot of beer) since I went through the navy's nuclear power program, so I can no long speak about it like an expert, but this i know a "Critical State" is just what happens when a nuclear reactor is producing power. It's fucking annoying to hear it announced like it's a bad thing. If it inadvertently entered this state, it could be bad a suppose, but as long as the hafnium rods where avaialable to be shoved back down in there to stem the reaction this wouldn't be a problem?
AMD still smokes the competition. For $350 dollars I Could put together a dual core, 2.5 GHZ System, (Memory, CPU, MB). Intel cannot touch that price performance ration. (Reference: DFI Ultra D, 3800+, some good 2.0 memory, and the whole bit OC's to 2.5 GHZ with very little effort.) DDR2 memory still has high latency's, isn't as cheap, and there core2 MB's are way overpriced, and not as mature.
I purchased a computer with windows XP, right before SP2 Came out. I Started to get into tinkering with my computer, and learning about it, which ultimately results in me breaking windows in some form, and reinstalling it. The first time this happened, I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone with some bitch who spoke broken English, re activating, She informed me I would have to do this every time I reinstalled windows. Then there was the installation of Sp2 issue. before long I found Windows Nemesis, a pirated package that does everything, installs everything, and has no activation issues. I Will no doubt eventually end up using a like version of Vista. This is Microsoft pushing me to do so with there restrictive policy's.
somewhere along the line self motivation becomes important. If the kid is going to cry about people running faster then him, or playing flag football better then him, and not try to get in better shape, let them be a fat slob for life, I could care less. Your same argument could get swapped around for science class, when those poor jocks get turned off because nerds answer all the questions, yada yada yada, a very lame argument.

a conservative expection I'm sure...
