    no. This changed a LONG time ago. It took *weeks* for KDE 4.1 to be in portage, and even then it was *still* masked.

    I miss the old Gentoo, for the adventurous fucker in everyone :(

    Actually, this could work. You could, for example, have a computer that runs all of these "smarter" power outlets, with the console locked in somehow, and have it so that, in order to turn it on, they have to, say, click a button on their computer. The 'server' sends a message saying "open it up" and then the power works. There's just one problem with this method: if a worker leaves the console on, or forgets to turn it off (Such as, say, when they pause a game so they can get to it later). Maybe a better method would be to having something like a little plug to monitor when the *controller* is being used?

    Well, then, lets just get rid of public schools, social security, medicare, etc. The whole point of the *government* spending money on such things is that it provides for the common good. Without government intervention, we'd still be stuck with private schools for the rich only.

    I would really much rather not have such a huge military budget than cut programs designed to promote the common good.

    Really, just throttle them based on how much theyve used in a given period. everyone wins. consumers keep their service, and providers can cut their bandwidth down a bit.
