No, actually. Kent State University is *very* picky about antivirus solutions you can use on campus. Oddly, they don't even check for anything if you run linux... EUP is better about it. Plus, enencrypted wireless.
i bought my laptop for dual-booting, WinXP MCE and Linux. After 4 months of getting tired of it telling me "Use *our* antivirus of choice!" in windows I just gave up and installed linux. Truth be told, I kept my MCE key around, because that gives me the legal right to use it in a VM should the need arise. (But it hasn't, thanks, in part, to everything moving to the web)
There's a pretty big difference between outright racism and just "Oh, you're so different from me..."
On my floor here, it's about 1/3 black kids. Most of the kids on here don't associate with them, but I think it's mostly because they're the "I'm gonna blast my rap and act like a fucking moron who doesn't know the english language" kind of blacks... In other words, the culture barrier is very high.
IANAL, but different parties can sue, I think. Manufacturers of machines can sue for damages to reputation, warranty costs, etc. Investors can sue for lost of investment, since it wasn't, in any way, a market force that caused the loss of value. Those who got the chips in machines can sue for damages too, I bet.
Frankly, this whole fiasco just strengthened my love for ATI. Their newer binary blobs are amazing.
I think it's more that WebKit is the new buzzword in browser dev. Plus, Apple uses it, so it's *obviously* the holy grail. I think Gecko is fine; if it's the bloat, maybe the competition from WebKit will whip it into shape.
We owe lots of stuff to lots of things from the second world war. Nice to see corporations like this getting involved; then again, this is part of PGP's history.
But if it doesn't work due to an artificial restriction, such as the shit implementation of SecuROM, then that prevents a legitimate user from using it on a legitimate system. If it was something real, such as, say, it making a system call (not SecuROM related) that wine can't handle, I'm fine with that.
I agree. DRM on games sucks. Thanks to DRM on games, it's nearly impossible to play certain games on Linux with Wine, because things like SecuROM don't like Wine. Pretty worthless 'rights management' if it prevents a legitimate customer from using it.
As I said above, it was the university network system that did it. Piece of shit, it was.

Correction - Linux is now on the whole drive, rather than the 20GB partition.

Except that, unfortunately, most people don't 'choose' microsoft... can't choose if you don't know the alternatives.
I'm not trying to be funny, though. I'm being totally serious. Windows will never again be on my laptop, unless it's in a VM for schoolwork.

Are you fucking kidding me? There's been tons of evidence that requires an adjustment of their theory.
Of course, all things that contradict their worldview are the works of satan!
Now, if only the creationists would adjust their fucking theory...
It doesn't have to be a monopoly to be illegal. Ever hear of price fixing, or an oligopoly? Those are illegal, too, buddy.
I know I ask this every time I see a game article...but...
Will it run on Linux?
unfortunately, loss of data is fairly hard to prove. Just my two pence.
probably when they start causing material harm.
That's an older driver, iirc. Ergo, your statement does absolutely nothing to contradict me. Mwahahahaha.
Yay. I might actually have a good reason to go back 'home' (as my dad puts it). Wanna see this kind of stuff in persn.
You must be new, I've said that quite a few times.
Seriously, though, they're more stable now, and they get fairly frequent updates.
No, they're not 'punished' by that. They're being punished for investing in a company that lied about shit products.

I have a fairly old (>2 years) HP lappy... gets around 4 hours with my usual usage. Only takes like 2.5 hours to fully charge this sucker :D
I check my e-mail more often than every five minutes and I
What? What was I doing?
Legacy code can still be trimmed, you know.
