    Careful. Many of the more hardcore wackjob denialists think that anyone who wants to reduce carbon emissions is a crypto-communist-revolutionary (they call them "watermelons" - "green on the outside, red on the inside") who wants to commit genocide against the denialists as part of their plan to create a socialist one-world-government. Don't give them any ammo.

    You see, that's where they win all the time. They can say anything they want. But aside from the one world government, that all sounds good.

    Besides, with free trade we already have what amounts to a one world government, it's hardly socialist.

    I still watch STTOS occasionally, but I've never been to a conference. Never been much for religion. Do people still go to those things?

    Shafting the customers seems to be SOP these days.

    Service doesn't seem to be an issue, because the competition doesn't give that either, so now competition is defined in terms of who can shaft the customers the best.

    Actually, the US didn't consider fighting the Nazi's until it was relatively clear that the Russians were beating them back. Also, the Nuremburg trials were a very good example of due process. Many just wanted to execute Nazi's, like you did with Bin Laden.

    Your average Web user will install ANYTHING if they want to view a website or if some banner ad promises them some "cool" thing

    I've been looking at tick based web games recently. A surprising number of them want to install exe files. I can't run an exe file, but I wouldn't dl and run it even if I could. May as well throw security and privacy right out the window.

    AFAICT none of these games NEED to run an exe on your puter.

    I'm sure I'm the exception, not the rule.

    Personally I think he was just a guy with a good message, like a lot of guys with good messages over the years - but despite that 100x horrible things have been done in his name as things that follow his message. Sad.

    It's highly unlikely that he existed. There is very little actual historical evidence from the time. Some apologists claim he went to India and came back in his 30's, but there isn't any real evidence of that either. Basically the whole thing is just what you think it is. A load of crap.

    It's not about how many lives are lost or saved, it's about reacting and playing off people's fears. Even if nobody was killed, smashing a bomb into the pentagon would have a bigger impact politically than a bus full of people getting into an accident and killing everyone and you know it.

    Exactly what the FBI and the CIA are doing when they manufacture terrorists, playing on YOUR fears.

    It was still at best a questionable moral decision, but never-the-less it was one (unusual) case where cold blooded mass murder was a logical potential choice for accomplishing the a goal.

    The goal being to maintain hegemony in the Middle East where all that lovely oil is.

    Actually educating religious people will make the world a safer place. Teach people how to think and they tend to see through scams more often.
