So what happens when this technology is more commonplace? Will you have to place your hands under a filtered xenon arc lamp when you leave work to make sure you didn't steal any sensitive info?
No slight intended -- sheep herding is not common fare in the states. I was merely pointing out that the BBC has massive funding and can produce less mainstream programming without fear of profit/loss margins, so why not keep the site up.
BBC produces some bizarre programs. I remember while channel surfing once, I saw a show about border collies herding sheep. Not during a competition a la Babe, they just followed folks out with their dogs.
Where do they get funding to pay for such shows? If you have a TV in England, you must pay a yearly licensing fee. The fee, at least in part, goes to the BBC. When I was there many years ago, it reminded me of some DOT projects -- "Well, we got this money and we have to spend it, so that's why we did it"
Seems hard to fathom there isn't enough funding in that behemoth to keep the site up.
How about a purely scientific use? Week long telescope surveys of space. Would be high enough to lose atmospheric blurring and short enough to collect lots of data, return to earth, then be reconfigured for another mission.
The paddles you see shocking heart attack victims back to life.
They even have Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) in most major airports, many public schools, even malls have them. The AED shocks the heart back into sync and are easy to use -- the instructions are on the box
There are many cases of people being submerged in ice water for extended periods of time without brain damage... probably induced by the rapid temperature drop and the lower cellular respiration.
you're right re: the lightweight facts though. How does cellular degeneration not occur? Do they continually pump the solution through the body? You would think they would have to.
In regards to the damaged blood vessels, I think they mean IF there were damaged vessels, like those suffered by soldiers in combat, peopel in accidents, etc.
Will be interesting to see as more reseach is done.
Your kids will get involved, especially early on, in the things YOU are involved in. If you want them to be active outside, then you gotta be the role model. As they age, they'll do things they are interested in. Involve them in many activities and theyll choose their path.

Oh hell, you know this will taken over by /.'ers AND do /.'ers know a damn thing about soldiering?
Probably not, but beware -- you may just create a robotic system administrator/repairman. Don't put yourselves out of a job!!!
Not zombie dogs, but the electrical shock bit...

I can't wait for the linux version -- will you get a rebate if you don't install windows on your car?
