    Now instead of looking at a page with 30 videos you are forced to scroll through 4 videos at a time, rest of the page is dedicated to ads and recommendations.

    Chip is $3.
    Chinese are able to churn out $40 android tv sticks using $10 Rockchip chips, but are unable to make anything close to that price range using 3x cheaper Realtek - because Realtek hates open documentation.

    This is my point - availability is not enough, products wont just magically happen just because someone is selling cheap chips. Rasppi happened ONLY because people inside Broadcom invested their own time to be a buffer between bunch of closed source dicks and community.

    Now if someone could build a five watt PPC Raspberry-Pi/BBB with 2x more RAM and GigE for five bucks less the landscape would shift in no time.

    Realtek makes RTD1186 750mhz mips + PowerVR SGX 531 + 1Gbit + USB 3.0 + hdmi + sata + pcie, and it costs $3
    That doesnt mean shit because Realtek is one of those companies (like Broadcom) that never ever give out documentation.

    See here's the deal: Just because one person discovers something, it doesn't magically mean that everyone else can figure it out right away. It might be the person who discovered it is pretty clever, and has done a lot of work in that field.

    History proves you wrong. Usually all it takes is the notion something is possible and vague explanation, or merely advances in other fields that make new discovery feasible. Look up parallel invention.

    They were invented to fix a problem of oversubscribing, but instead of fixing it they only encourage even more ridiculous data plans.
    Some argue they are needed in Australia due to expensive inter continent links - but then you look at NBN and realize they count traffic that never leaves internal fiber.
    This is all pushed by incumbent ISP execs - why offer progress when we can rape them with no lube?

    IMSI tracking is impossible, all that if floating in the air is TMSI - automagically random generated when you turn on your phone (unless they also install gsm blockers and force phones to lose connection in a chokepoint somewhere).
    IMEI changing is trivial, thieves dont do it, fences/repair shops do (in countries where imsi block lists are active)
