    Faith and Reason, much discussed as of late. For anyone interested in more information about how scientist and theologian handle the seemingly incompatabilities between the two, Slate provides this fascinating set of discussions @ http://meaningoflife.tv/ Long conversations with scientist, theologians and philosphizers. I reccommend you watch the entire intervies not the snippetts.

    Also Check out Bill Moyers show Faith and Reason on your local PBS station or @ http://www.pbs.org/moyers/watch.html

    The conversations are long and dry, but the content is golden. On the subject of how old the Universe is, I default to the only known answer Old, Older than any of us.

    I don't get these guys. 10yrs to develop a brand on television and they change the name.

    20 years of raping profits from CDs. Now any person on the planet can get a CDplayer for 10bucks, a CD/MP3 player for 20.
    They want to change the format. WTF, Ahem

    Memo to Warner Music Division.

    We want the physical media.
    We will pay a REASONABLE price for it.
    We do not want to be forced to upgrade all of our equipment.
    We have no desire to re buy all of our music all over again.
    We do not want Restriction on the use of OUR media other than copy resale.
    We want access to our music and choice of purchase Web/CD/Satelite

    To acommplish all of these, you can either:

    Release your DRM-less music on the web itunes/napster/WBStore whatever, Reduce the price of CDs to less than $10 and Be the alternative to the Sony Empire. Reaping profits and customers lowering R&D/liscensing costs across the board.

    or

    Follow through with this profit killing, customer betraying, Stock tanking, disastrous, nefarious, expensive plan, Risking Being made irrelevant in the music industry.

    Never let it be said that I didn't try to help out the big guys.

    As a great visionary once said, the Internet is not a truck, it's a collection of pipes. So darnit, for my surfing I want to see some pipes, how they connect, and where they lead to, and what they contain.

    How could you misquote the great Internet Sage, Ted Stevens, Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, ForShame.

    No, I'm not finished. I want people to understand my position, I'm not going to take a lot of time.

    They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck.

    It's a series of tubes.

    And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

    Thank (insert Diety here) he's there to watch over those tubes for us. One of the finest examples of Representative Government I've ever seen.

    Attack of the Show, Sometimes good, sometimes painful. The Feed, now very painful. I miss Sarah, but not her husband

    XPlay, Good Reviews, and subtle comedy that you have to listen carefully for.

    Icons, Reruns that are gaming History related, New ones not so much.

    Everything Else, Change the channel.

    The Demographic they are trying to zero in on, is not one I would like to be associated with. I mean, I like hot chicks as much as the next guy, but damn, there has to be Content OR Nudity. Content would be preferred we already have Nudity channels. What we don't have are Technical Content. Hardware, Software, Internet, and Geek Culture on tv.

    If maybe I hadn't seen every StarTrek and NextGeneration 10 years ago, I might include them as high points.

    As for #3, I think that may also have been in part thanks to sites like savewash.com (no link, since it's been replaced by domain squatters) that leaked info from sneak peeks and previews. Gods know, I wish I'd seen the site before the movie. (Rant about that part of the movie omitted.)

    I thought it showed real balls. Good likable character eats it at the triumphant moment, Impressed me. Wouldn't have had the same impact if it had been the Doc. (my wife was wishing him dead the whole movie)

    It has zero to do with consoles. Consoles do not make any significant money for chip makers. Consoles make money for game publishers.

    Traditionally Consoles make no money for Console Makers. (Nintendo Excluded)

    However the chips inside cost money, Ati was happy to have a GPU in the GameCube, and They (AMD & Ati) are happy to be in the Wii and the 360. I have no numbers but I'd bet my next console (Wii) they didn't sell below cost.

    I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion, so I'd just like you all to know that I am going to buy a Nintendo Wii instead of a PlayStation 3.

    Not if I get it off the shelf first.

    Somehow I don't think Nintendo is going to have the fullfillment problems of MS and Sony. I also get the feeling that I will be able to choose only between the Wii and 360 for a little while anyway.

    I fail to see how this even begins to fit the "News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters" moniker.

    Well you see, there are people in and around government who think torture is justified. It matters to me that not only are there still real americans in and around government but they are standing up and saying what they believe.

    Maybe 'blog' is the word that is bothering you.

    Here we have a contractor who did something the employer didn't like. Employer fires contractor. End of story.

    Something her employer's employer (Uncle Sam) did not like. End of story is, If you stand up and speak your mind, 'we' will terminate your livelyhood, even if what you say is the truth (especially if it is the truth).

    I guess all this is irrelevant to you, and you'd like another Ipod-killer/DS-killer/History of Luigi's Mustache story.
