I was pointing out parent's false conclusion in a painfully simplified and obvious way.
I'm glad it worked.
Just because US Auto & related industries are in the toilet is not the union's fault. They don't run the plants. They don't engineer lame vehicles. They don't force japanese and german etc automakers to do better. Do you think Japanese autoworkers don't have excellent pay and benefits? Do you think they don't have healthcare?
As for "rotten economy": I have to call FUD on that one. The stock market is near an all time high, and unemployment is near an all time low.
I'd say that record-breaking national and personal debt and bankruptcy filings and declining or flat inflation-adjusted median income indicate a rotten economy.
For a portion of the population. It's a good time to be on a corporate board, or to be an executive.
right. Then the person would get a blank look on their face and back away, insisting that I could only count to 10. I stopped trying to be funny at cocktail parties with that dud.
I can still count to 1023 on my fingers though dammit!
I used to brag about being able to count to 1000 on my fingers, but it was too hard to explain. Sadly, people would get this blank expression and back away, insisting that I could only count to ten.
I knew someone who lived in a trailer and it wasn't cheap. Between trailer payments and space rental it was more than I paid for a small apartment. This was in Santa Barbara, so heating wasn't a big deal.
It never made sense to me. It cost more than renting, and after 30 years you have a broken-down worthless trailer that costs $400/mo just to exist.
Sorry, looks like most people here either like linux or remember the good ol days.
At my work we have a problem with machines exposed to mechanical damage. We're trying different things, but one thing I really like are VNC approaches. Makes it easy to troubleshoot, very flexible. We put racks of servers in and have KVM etc out on the floor. If one of the cheap machines on the floor gets destroyed no problem, we don't even have to have downtime.
There are kvm solutions over ethernet that are worth looking into.
I have a 1982 nissan diesel pickup. It gets 30-40 mpg, depending on load/topper. It is also very reliable. I'd love to replace it with a new model, but I'd have to go to honduras or somewhere and smuggle it into the US.
I've heard the problem is California's ban on diesel passenger vehicles, which makes sense since that is 1/3 the country's market right there.
If I have to set up a tent, cook meals, bring my own water, pack my garbage out, shower out of a bag, and worry about the elements for several days it's camping.
Plus, everyone calls their temporary home there a camp. Large groups build Theme Camps.
Agreed, you don't want to host a popular domain with municipal wifi, but that isn't the point. All the target audience for this service does is check mail & surf the web.
I'll get on the horn and tell the dozens of cities with functioning municipal wifi to tear 'em out, they're not practical.
A trivial search reveals dozens of municipal wifi networks already in use.
You can add the ubiquitous coverage in airports, marinas, hotels, etc. that have been in place for years and years. There are hundreds if not thousands of network engineers that do this for a living and are good at their work.
Of course consumer equipment set up by idiots and designed for indoor use won't provide a citywide network.
You might need to change what channel you use on your tivo or whatnot. But you'd have to do that anyway if a neighbor gets a new toy.
An external antenna could be attached to the router. It'd add a small cost relative to the buildout. There are even thru-glass connectors so you wouldn't need to drill holes.
ew, I don't drink that crap. If I want some dairy in my coffee, it's a touch of half-n-half or some foam with espresso.
Anyway, my point remains. Why not put a latte in a can and let the user contaminate it with sweetener if necessary? Are we so lazy we can't sweeten our own coffee anymore?
You can easily get 15 kwh/gallon with a diesel generator, which is about twice as expensive as at home. Biodiesel could be used if desired, and it'd double as a power source for outages and camping.
electric kettles are rare in the US. They're ubiquitous in Europe. This article is about self-heating cans, but apparently someone got confused and thought self-heating can == electric kettle.
I was trying to straighten things out, but that'll never happen again.
Seriously, with my camping gear and 200 gal boiler in the basement and some powdered milk I'll be okay for a few weeks. I'll even be able to read with my diesel lamps!
I'm glad it worked.

Therefore, unions create larger markets.

Funny farming, sure. That's fun to say!

How did you come up with the idea to have typos in your resume anyway?
Why ask when doing the math is so easy?

I don't think that was a false positive, but we're still crunching the numbers.

44 on yahoo, 229 on google.
Wait, what was I saying?
Did you have to massage that? Or do you have a gift?
I'll get on the horn and tell the dozens of cities with functioning municipal wifi to tear 'em out, they're not practical.
Every time this has come up lately someone has to chime in and say that it's impossible. Makes me crazy.
Oh, you've never been to burningman.

I've made things much worse!
