Most people who engage in internet flame wars about issues they are particularly passionate about are not autistic. I have seen absolutely no evidence over the years that Linus would fit in such a category.
The way you put this, sounds like Torvals has some kind of severe autism.
Oh please, if Torvalds is autistic, then I'm a borderline pyschopath. People sometimes lose it when typing. I do often. They don't see the other side of the conversation as an actual person. It happens. For example, right now, I want to hit you with a stick. If this were real life, I'd not want to, and I'd have you out for coffee.
Ack - speaking of selling out. Google has proven themselves to be no better a company than any other. They made a mockery of their "do no evil" pledge with the whole search in China thing, and with their lobbying efforts in the various states.
Please stop seeing the world in black and white. They did the right thing given two crappy options and are being punished for it by self-righteous westerners.
You don't? I tried Eve and found myself doing tons of agent missions to gain "standing point" or mining for hours on end. I didn't continue after my 14 day trial, despite having incredible enthusiasm for the concept. Travel was also rather tedious... perhaps worse than grinding. What am I missing? I'm sure there's something.
But in a post-9/11 U.S.A., the authorities have to assume things like this could be terrorist in nature and respond as if they were.
No they fucking don't. It's lights and four D batteries. Look at the damn with with binoculars. What happens was absurd and there's no excuse for the response by the idiots in Boston. We have the same shit in New York and no one goes fucking crazy.
I wish I had modpoints to mod you up. While your statement is strong, it has validity. Linux is great, yes, but I'd never use it for a production server based on my experiences with it. it isn't terrible, but there are much better alternatives.
How is the RIAA exploiting people? You might have an argument that they "exploit artists", but certainly not the consumer. After all, no one needs CDs. They're free to buy whatever they want. Personally, I do not have any illegal music. I buy everything. However, I've not bought one CD from an RIAA-entangled artist for about five years -- You don't need to. There's a lot of great stuff out there besides their crap.
As for exploiting artists, it's all voluntary cooperation. If you don't like the deal, don't sign the contract. Now more than ever there are plenty of alternative ways to make a buck off of your music. I realize these options might not be as great as an altruist organization ready to promote your work and hand you tons of money, but that doesn't exist anywhere in life.
I won't get into a rational debate here as it doesn't look possible. However, I will say that you seriously need to rethink this. Saying someone has a choice with regards to abortion is exactly like saying someone has a choice as to if they eat meat or not. Cutting up their meat for them would be more like helping perform the abortion without any thoughts or cares.
Having symlinks in the Vista kernel is nice and all, but Vista doesn't seem to offer a way to create these in Explorer. Who wants to break open a command line just to create a symlink?
That's how it works in OS X and everyone gets on just fine. Symlinks, unlike OS X's aliases, easily break. You don't want normal users creating them and then complaining when suddenly they don't work any more.

I certainly meant nothing ill by it -- I posted it from my new iMac Core 2 Duo. :-)
I do hope their website isn't representative of their grid's performance...
How about we call each node in the OpenMacGrid a MacGriddle?

If only I had mod points... to mod you redundant...
Get the quote right at least?

Why the hell is this modded insightful?
hehe, "undo"...

Todd Vanderlin is in my department at Parsons, and I assure you he's not shut up about this all day. Why must I be punished for this?
Aye, one of my favorite such sites:

Have any other strong and uninformed opinions to share on matters of importance?
A gzone sounds like an italian sort food filled with cheese... with an environmentally-concious twist... for Gnome... err

This is the dumbest ask slashdot I've ever seen. Fucking pathetic. I realize that's strong language, but honestly...
the recording industry realizes that they can never have a full proof DRM method.
Really? 200 proof?
Would you prefer Google not exist at all or be forced to strike some deal with Microsoft?
No shit.
You cannot take my BSD licensed software and relicense it under the GPL
Yes you can.
