Interesting fact, that the most stable grid for carbon is far from being the hardest. Btw can it be proved, that graphite is really the most stable grid for carbon? You have to solve a minimal problem on a multidimensional configuration space. It is usualy hard if not impossible to prove that a local energy minimum found is also the global one.
