#3 is the reason your dream(and mine) will never happen. #3 is really the reason behind most of the problems we face: drug war, overpopulation, fiscal crisis, environmental degradation, etc;
As my dad pointed out when he heard I was getting divorced, "50% of all marriages end in divorce", it makes me really wonder what the future of marriage is. For thousands of years marriage was an involuntary act for the majority of human society. Marriage and procreation were keys to successful survival for a human population, the majority of which was based in an agrarian society. Not so anymore. Marriage is a BIG gamble in so many ways, and when that gamble doesn't pay off, you're left with many "problems" to resolve, etc; that aren't easy to work out and affect you for the rest of your life. I have read about the benefits of marriage, whether they are financial, social, healthwise, etc;, But I really have to wonder, with the way the "First World" is going, technologically, socially, etc; how marriage will fare in the coming decades and centuries.
I agree with you. The lakes in the west are in the same situation because of coal burning power plants. They actually issue warnings not to eat fish caught in most of the lakes.
I live in Utah. Do you? I don't need to substantiate the claim that the LDS church has the last say in any major State of Utah decisions. There are countless examples. Countless... If you need convincing I suggest you use a search engine and start reading. And I'm not talking "fringe" opinion blogs, I'm talking about the cold analytical eyes of 150+ years of academic, journalistic and historical research. It's common knowledge.
Why else do you think we're seeing a massive "positive" publicity campaign to warm our hearts towards Hyrdraulic Fracturing? Pennsylvania will be sorry... They'll get a few thousand quick and short-term high paying jobs. Peoples real estate values in some areas will go up drastically. High school kids with no education will be making 6 figures and then spending themselves into a hole. Then the boom will end. Property values will drop, unemployment, local communities will be stuck holding the bag while the energy companies will skip town to the next boom.
Aaron Tilton and his gang of LDS Church approved eco-thugs need to be stopped. This plan is a big mistake. The allotments of water from the Green are already being hotly contested by all of the Colorado River Compact states. Colorado wants to run a pipeline from Flaming Gorge to the Front Range... St. George wants their pipeline from Lake Powell. And now comes Tilton to take his cut. This is after warnings from scientists that the flows for the Green and Colorado are going to go down in the foreseeable future.
I can speak from experience on this topic. It appears to me that women are generally more picky, less realistic and more willing to hold out for their vision of what a perfect "match" is. I noticed this first when I read the profiles. I was immediately taken aback at the smarmy, fakeness of their self descriptions. I instantly picked up on the fact that most of them had some kind of "profile enhancement" done by the service, whether it was Match or whoever... The words and phrases used in the profiles were all similar, and sounded almost like a Mission Statement from some generic corporate marketing focus group.
I've been "online" since '93, and have hosted my own sites and DNS, etc; Whats funny is when people who didn't even use email until the early 2000's found out I'm not on FB they act like I'm some kind of luddite. Thats how many people view the whole web 2.0 experience. They can't be bothered with email and websites when the warm and cozy FB gives them everything they want. It's the Walmart of the net. Zuckerberg's fantasy of an "all seeing eye" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauron is coming to fruition.
Yea, I've been noticing this on A LOT of sites. Pages won't load right or load at all unless the ubiquitous FB(and lets not forget Google) and it's associated sites are allowed... It's quite fascinating how quickly FB has achieved this feat, and rather disgusting. People rail endlessly about Obama and how "the gubment" is taking over, etc;. FB and Google is who people should really be concerned with.
Holy Shit the Well of Souls books were good! I can't believe they never made films based on this, let alone games.

Mod up please.

Probably the best analogy of FB yet. Bravo!

until anyone wearing or owning one of those masks can be arrested for "suspicion of activities detrimental to state security"?
Is this guy an Elton John impersonator?
I couldn't have said it better. Bravo!
