Articles like this just makes me proud to pay taxes.
Seriously, NASA does some amazing work! I wish the politicians could stay out of it so we would have the next generation craft 10 years ago as we were promised. The shuttle also should have been retired 10 years ago (with a workin replacement 10 yrs ago), but thanks to the number of people the shuttle keeps employed, the "pork" shuttle is still here. Oh well, thankfully it is over soon.
Honestly, its iTunes that makes iPOd so great. The complete package is what I think is successful, not Itunes or the Ipod as separately.
Have you tried music match. UGH, its just terrible and slow. I had to use this originally with my Ipod, and it couldn't even sync properly. Musicmatch had to re-copy the entire library to do an update.
I don't understand why Slashdot (a place I like to think of being pretty well grounded in approaches to technology reviews) has gotten caught up in this blog nonsense. Blogs are not news. This guy who wrote this review is a nobody, and as prior replies to this posting say there are tons of flaw by the "author."
Could we have a return to posting articles by real journalists in magazines with real editors? Come on Slashdot editors, don't buy into this blogosphere crap!:)
I won't make an arguement about security problems in Win2k, since the article is correct. However, I will say that I think Windows 2000 is the best MS OS to yet come out. The GUI is far better then XP (IMHO), has support for all the latest "bells and whistles", and it is FASTER than the equivalent XP machine.
Thanks for the reply.
Just installed Kubuntu to check it out, and I am very pleased at their effort to simplify the distro for a fresh install. I never understood why so many distros feel the need to include multiple programs for the same functionality -- it just makes it more confusing for a new user IMHO.
VOIP won't really take off until the ISPs start giving better UPSTREAM speeds. Downloads of 8mbit, 4mbit etc are GREAT! But why are we stuck at such comparatively PATHETIC upload speeds?
...MS provided steep discounts to Indiana schools for their purchase of Microsoft software
Ok, please realize that the subject was a JOKE! :)
It should be "WELL" But most people in the U.S. use good instead of well (drives me crazy!)

Uhm, the quote is Hermann Goering... NOT hitler.
A hole puncher for paper worked fine for me. I used to laugh at those devices made "special" for making these holes in floppies!

Personally, I take the "you never know" ideology and save everything. You must be a clutter hound! :)
Did he get rich off his invention or did the MBA's take all the money? :)
Someone please post bittorent for it? The download section is being slashdotted!

So, now that WinMX is entering the "mainstream" (regarding public knowledge etc) does this mean they are next on the chopping block?
Better yet, go to Mac :) I know I am interested in moving to it once the intel based boxes are out! :)

Wow, hell HAS frozen over!
Rather then posting on this topic, let's all do a virtual "sit-in" and just not respond to this posting! :)

Could someone tell me how long until this trickles into the debian based distros?
Thanks!
Macromedia popcorn is yummy :)

Well, I continue to try to use the Live CD versions, and they all fail on multiple computers. I get the following error during the startup process:
CASPER-UDEB Not Found.
I have downloaded the live CD many times, and re-burned several times. Any ideas?
