Honest, your Honor, the information was there when I shut off the system and gave the RAM modules to the Officer. I'm sure I instructed him to hold them upside down all the time to prevent the data from leaking out the pins...
Glenn beck has been on the trails of many of these stories, for a long time, well before he was ever signed to air on Fox News, back when he was still on one of turner's stations, Headline News. Yet noone wants to remember that, he's on fox he must be a liar. So does that mean Alan Colmes, Hiraldo, or anyone else who appears on Fox News must by association be a liar?
They are all liars and hypocrites to some extent. Their motivations are money, fame and ratings - not truth or patriotism, etc. If those goals are sometimes aligned, so much the better. The difference is that the all of the output of Fox News and the Fox *commentators* is at the direction and approval of Murdoch and his agenda, which happens to coincide with the agenda of the Republican party. Sure, it's his business and he can run it however he likes, but let's not pretend it's for any benefit except his own.
Glenn Beck doesn't love this country, he loves what he can do here and what the country can do for him. If he actually loved the country, he would be less derisive and inflammatory - as would the rest of the Fox News *commentators*.
In 1985 Murdoch became a United States citizen to satisfy legislation that only United States citizens could own American television stations. This also resulted in Murdoch losing his Australian citizenship.
In 1999, The Economist reported that Newscorp Investments had made £11.4 billion ($20.1 billion) in profits over the previous 11 years but had not paid net corporation tax. It also reported that after an examination of the available accounts, Newscorp could normally have been expected to pay corporate tax of approximately $350 million. The article explained that in practice the corporation's complex structure, international scope and use of offshore tax havens allowed News Corporation to pay minimal taxes.
Legal? Perhaps. Ethical?... Believe me, I know politicians are actually to blame for structuring the tax code to allow this sort of thing, and I'm sure there are many other corporation that doe the same. I'm just saying, all Murdoch - and by extension his empire - cares about is Murdoch.
You still have stuffed animals? It's okay. I know an anarchist who still sleeps with Pound Puppies, although his wife isn't too fond of the situation.
I have several (and I'm 46). My wife and I couldn't have children and she had pet allergies, so we got stuffed animals. They loved to give her hugs and kisses and play in her underwear drawer. She died of a brain tumor in January 2006 (after 20 years together). I cherish my memories of us and our stuffed animals.
But as far as the actual NEWS goes, Fox NEWS was by fair the most "fair and balanced" of any network...
But the organization as a whole works as one machine. What Fox NEWS is very good at is reporting the rumors started by the Fox "commentators* - "...some people say..." - and those *commentators* are very good at talking about that *news* - "...it's been reported...". Rinse and repeat.
There should be no misconception that the entire Fox News organization is a propaganda machine for Rupert Murdoch and the Republican party. They are "fair and balanced" only up to the point that it conflicts with these two entities. To paint a broad stroke, anyone who cannot see that is deluded.
Hey, hey, HEY... Not fair - to subhuman, poo-flinging primates. My stuffed Gorilla is very nice, though I believe he would target his poo at Glenn - and the Fox News "commentators" in general - but that's his First Amendment right...
And copyright attorneys said his defense was laughable and carries no weight."
...music/movie industry copyright lawyers say this about *every* argument that interferes with their clients' business. Not saying they're wrong in this case, just sayin'...
... create two Quality of Service ("QoS") levels for Internet traffic going to and from the cable modem: (1) "Priority Best-Effort" traffic ("PBE"); and (2) "Best-Effort" traffic ("BE").
During the time that a subscriber's traffic is assigned the lower priority status, such
traffic will not be delayed so long as the network segment is not actually congested.
If, however, the network segment becomes congested, such traffic could be delayed.
Given our experience so far, we have determined that a starting point for the upstream
Port Utilization Threshold should be 70 percent and the downstream Port Utilization Threshold
should be 80 percent. (The term "port" as used here generally contemplates single channels on a CMTS, but these statements will apply to virtual channels, also known as "bonded groups," in a DOCSIS 3.0 environment.) -- (Basically, a "port" is the neighborhood connection.)
(Given the above) When a subscriber uses an average of 70 percent or more of his or her (individually) provisioned upstream or downstream bandwidth over a particular 15-minute period, that user will be in an Extended High Consumption State.
Simply put, there are four steps to determining whether the traffic associated with a
particular cable modem is designated as PBE or BE:
Determine if the CMTS port is in a Near Congestion State.
If yes, determine whether any users are in an Extended High Consumption State.
If yes, change those users' traffic to BE from PBE. If the answer at either step one or
step two is no, no action is taken.
If a user's traffic has been designated BE, check user consumption at next interval. If
user consumption has declined below predetermined threshold, reassign the user's
traffic as PBE. If not, recheck at next interval
On the other hand, I don't care how high your IQ is, if you frequently do stupid things, then you're stupid.
TFA seems to be about trying to show that George W. Bush was actually smart. Without arguing the actually merits either way, I'd say his mediocre grade-point average (77 according to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006041514803 - to be fair, Kerry and Gore weren't much better), failed businesses (http://www.villagevoice.com/2002-07-09/news/george-bush-failed-corporate-crook/1, http://alaric3rh.home.sprynet.com/science/bceo.html), and legendary misspoken-isms, I'd say the researcher is fighting a losing battle...
They're still smart, but even smart people can do dumb things. That's why it's important to be clear with phrases like "You are dumb" and "That was dumb." (I have finger puppets if the/. editors are confused about this...)
Continued progress along these lines won't end well for us.
Did we learn nothing from Deep Blue Sea? (Or this: IntelliMouse?)
I, for one, welcome <you know the rest...>
What are the odds that most people use the time during commercials to go get themselves a drink or something and aren't actually watching them?
For me? Zip. I *still* skip the commercials, then press "pause". I have a MythTV system and for most, well behaved shows, this is a snap. Hell, even if I'm available to watch something live, I'll often do something else while the show records just so I can skip through the commercials later.
Granted, though you overestimate init's efficiency. I've seen dead, orphaned processes hang around for an hour.:-O In any case, I guess the joke wasn't *that* funny - regardless the conditional.
I was working off the subject of "Breeding Zombies", so it's "if (0 < fork()) exit(0);" to *make* (or breed) the zombie. Fork returns zero to the child (future zombie) and greater-than zero to the parent. The parent creates the child and, in this case, immediately exits leaving the child parentless - which, of course, then must be reaped by init.
True, every process becomes a zombie when it dies, but someone else made the parent. In addition, init isn't always that swift in reaping, so parentless zombie children often remain in the process table for a while - so that's fun.
Then there are the ones written vertically, like Japanese and Chinese - yikes!:-)
Actually, the national specs for how Japanese and Chinese are written include horizontal left-to-right as one of the two standard layouts.
It was a joke.:-) Although, using Kanji or Han -like characters might be problematic as some (many, most?) can mean entire words or concepts and are context dependent... Perhaps they'll use Romaji -like characters instead.
Actually, that "iHate" and there's an app for that. However, since "iHate" is only available through the AppStore, the user experience is paradoxical...
Umm... It was a joke. Head on down to Geek Squad and get some humor recognition routines installed. - sigh.

For those that still think Murdoch and Fox News are wonderful, I'll digress a bit...

Sure Officer, you can have the RAM and its contents. Let me turn off the system and pull out those modules for you...

Can they fight within the game so we can all watch?
(So. Would being mod'ed a "troll" be good or bad for this thread?)

I believe Joel used Excel to calculate that... :-)
Make that: if (0 < fork()) exit(0);
(Damn HTML coding. See what happens when you forget to "Preview" - sigh.)
Or a simple: if (0 fork()) exit(0);
