    As for accountability, tasers have ID tags that identify the officer that discharged them and much like the discharge of firearms they should complete reports after every incident and upon injury or death there should be a departmental review process that investigates the officers' actions as to how the situation was handled and how it could be better handled in the future. If the officer was found to be negligent or derelect in their duties, disciplinary action should be taken.

    There, fixed that for you.

    I think people are missing the real point here.

    DARPA is obviously seeing if they can do it. The end goal is probably to get chips manufactured for the rest of the world that the US Govt can disable at will -- something like GPS Selective Availability.

    As far as I know, human brains don't retain much information when the power is turned off and there's usually some trouble after the power is restored. Furthermore, I'm not sure how power-down information retention relates to pattern-matching abilities.

    But what to I know, I had my brain off last night.

    A 2005 analysis performed by McDevitt (while he was still on the White House Staff) found over 700 days with e-mails apparently missing from the "journaling" archives, including 12 days in which all e-mails from the president's immediate office were missing, and 16 days when all e-mails from the Vice President's office were missing.

    Hmmm... How much crap did Nixon get for losing 18.5 minutes of audio tape? Maybe it's just me, but the email thing sounds way, way worse.

    Those are all good technical reasons to not use ReiserFS, but many comments (to which I was responding) are proposing not using it because either the author (allegedly?) killed his wife, or will now be in jail - and presumably won't be able to maintain the code :-)

    I can understand if people are not comfortable with using ReiserFS in light of what has happened.

    Not criticizing the parent, but I don't really understand this sentiment. For example, Hitler proposed and helped design the Volkswagon Did Hitler really invent the Volkswagen?, yet we still drive them.
