that's exactly what we do here at my school, rochester institute of technology...we used to have a direct connect hub over internet2 with other i2 schools but then it got to the point that us on the direct connect hub were using 90% of the i2 bandwidth.
solution: blocked i2 traffic thereby keeping it all internal...there were already enough users from our school that it didn't make too much a difference, and the more people that heard about it the more that got on....now we have an insanely fast DC hub just on the internal network where you can find just about anything!
The news.com article mentions nothing about AOL using Gecko in its windows client so I don't even know why the submitter references it.....
Also, as an AOL beta tester, I will tell you that there currently is an AOL 7.0 w/ Gecko in testing. The plan is to get Gecko fully compatible w/ AOL, and since in that time they havge started testing of verion 8.0, it will then be moved into 8.0 for the final release, to the public.
Seriously though, what is the big deal? All I hear is people bitching about how awful this is and how slashdot isn't good enough to pay for. If you don't like the ads, then pay to get rid of them. If you don't want to pay, then quit complaining and live with it. It's not like a couple ads is really going to kill you. Personally, I think ads are annoying, and I also love reading slashdot (even with the supposed grammatical errors and lack of original stories which some people seem think is some huge deal), but I also do not have the money/want to spend my money on getting rid of the ads...so instead I'll just live with it. It's not that big of a fucking deal. Quit complaining and get over it, slashdot needs to generate some profit and this is one way to achieve it. Can you blame them?!?
OK, I can admit that my password is my responsibility and I should have been more careful with it (How I could be more careful is beyond me, I took every precaution...), but PayPal has yet to exhibit any willingness in helping to resolve this. Their support people just keep telling me to log in and fix it and that they're working on it, meanwhile, the person has tried to withdraw more funds I just discovered, at the very least they could suspend the activity....
...has been anything less than fun. Somehow someone got my password and changed my primary email address, thus not allowing me into my account. Luckily I caught the e-mail that this happened (at least PayPal notifies you of that, even though everything else sucks....) and immediately transferred all of my money out of my savings account that PayPal was linked to, I then called the bank and they said they'd watch my account and I should open a new one to be safe. I also wrote to PayPal, but didn't get a response until 4 days later. By that time, someone has already tried to withdraw over $900 from my account. And guess what they told me to do in their support e-mail, they told me to log into my account and fix it! Hello! If the problem is my account was stolen and the username/pw changed then I obviously can't! Luckily my bank is being good about it and are not charging me for those overdrawn withdrawals. Needless to say, I will never use PayPal again, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone! Avoid it like the plague!
one thing i've learned is that not only should you run/walk and do cardiovascular exercise, but you should also lift weights, even if you can't do much and probably won't get huge or strong or anything, it helps a lot!
you should do some sort of cardio exercise at least 3-4 times a week, everyone has their own opinions on this but make that the minimum - you should also do a light and simple lifting program 2 or 3 times a week in conjunction with that - nothing that will really kill you, it'll help a lot
of course not only exercise, but eat well, i find diets to be stupid considering a person's diet must be tailored for them anyway, just make sure to eat well, lots of fruits and veggies and all around healthy food - just follow the food pyramid, it actually does know what it's talking about - also cut out the pop and beer, i know they taste good but they do nothing good for you - just stick to water/milk/juice
there's my 2 cents - that's all what i did/do and have maintained a consistent 145, down from 165 - of course i'm also 17 so take it with a grain of salt...
Whatever you try, don't use those cheapy seventy dollar inverter critters from the local Rat Shack. They make enough interference that some laptops and handheld radios cease to function near them.
crap and i just bought one of those off ebay - oh well, luckily it was only 15$ - guess we'll find out if it was a good investment when i hook my $3000 system with all my crucial data with no backups to it
check it out - the file lzip is simply a pciture of a monkey and a banana
the contents of lunzip are as follows:
Goldfinger.
He's the man, the man with the midas touch.
A spider's touch.
Such a cold finger.
Beckons you to enter his web of sin
But don't go in.
Golden words he will pour in your ear,
But his lies can't disguise what you fear,
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her,
It's the kiss of death from
Mister Goldfinger.
Pretty girl beware of this heart of gold
This heart is cold.
Golden words he will pour in your ear,
But his lies can't disguise what you fear,
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her,
It's the kiss of death from
Mister Goldfinger.
Pretty girl beware of this heart of gold
This heart is cold.
He loves only gold,
Only gold.
He loves gold.
He loves only gold,
Only gold.
He loves gold.

and this type of stuff goes on for all the files
funny thing is, i actually thought it was a real program for a but there
so why don't you just change the e-mail address you gave NSI - sure it takes a while and a its lot of hassle but if spam is that much of a nuisane to you then it would be worth it
mmEye is a "multimedia server", as they put it its a piece of hardware that uses NetBSD, i'm kinda doubting they would replace the OS inside with OpenBSD just for shits and giggle
I personally think there is a definite correllation between human and programming languages. I first learned to program 5 years ago at age 11, all self-taught. Sure it was only VB but i think that's pretty good for having no prior computer experience at all. A couple years after that (and after learning some more languages, C++, Perl) I took German in Freshman year HS. It came so easily. I easily whizzed through the class w/o much effort really, it all just came naturally. This is while everyone else in the class was lucky to pull off a B, very hard teacher. The same thing keeps happenning every year in every level.
Not sure if this has much validity to it as in factual information. Just my personal experience. (btw: 2 of my friends who are really good at german also picked up some programming languages easily, coincidence? i think not)
quick google search turns up fileSafe - its a PalmOS encryption program which supports 448 bit Blowfish (which is still considered secure) and 128 bit TEA (which i don't know much about).
and the old-skool macs with ADB, the precursor to USB
actually with the new macs you can have two mice control one pointer with usb - try it yourself, go grab two hockeypuck mice and an imac, plug em in and see
my god man, do you really have nothing better to give your money away to - take a look around, there's rampant starvation, lack of medicines, food, disaster relief, etc. everywhere. I'm not anti-technology at all but I believe your money would be better spent saving a life, e.g. giving directly to a humanitarian organization for real world relief rather than online presence
When it comes down to it: save a life, or help a nonprofit org have a site - your choice
i would try putting it all on some hard disks - had disk space is incredibly cheap these days and i bet you could rip it all to mp3 and toss the data in along with it - just an idea
i don't know about anyone else, but i personally don't want interactive tv - ok, sure it would be cool but i would much rather sit back and just chill, not really even thinking a ton and being plain lazy (no i'm not some fat dude who sits and watches tv all day)
People who for whatever reason want to use drugs are still going to
I personally like the high which I get from marijuana, and I also don't consider myself an addict. I only smoke it once every couple months or so. Try marijuana somtime, then you'll understand why its use is so widespread, because the high and after the high is awesome.

why don't you try netcraft - its free and quick and it can monitor most sites - just go to uptime.netcraft.com
on your resume you state "Installation and maintenance of web, DNS, mail, and other services on a Linux box."
probably not the best idea to use such unprofessional and vague words like "box" and "web"

wild guess but could it be to retrieve the CDDB information on the album? that would seem to make the most sense
the article is referring to NetBSD running on SH3 - not linux
Some sounds were mixed, reversed, sped up or slowed down - sometimes all forms were used.
Just out of curiosity, why exactly would you speed up AND slow down a sound? Wouldn't it defeat the purpose?
so why don't you just change the e-mail address you gave NSI - sure it takes a while and a its lot of hassle but if spam is that much of a nuisane to you then it would be worth it

i'm too damn drunk to think think about any of that stuff!

with a feedback rating of zero and something starting at $1000 i don't think i'd be taking my chances on it
