Of peace. Seriously, there is no chance in hell that Israel will manage peace by directly because their is no trust between the two party and won't be for a long time.
Mod parent up. this is true. Even if you are defending your self. Where you're bullet hit is your responsibility.
This actually something people who carry guns should realize if you miss and kill an innocent you will be found guilty of man slaughter.
Hard to go anywhere when their a blockade in one of the most populous region of the world.
Hamas is wrong and needs to be eliminated but everything Israel is doing is only helping Hamas get more power. These people thrive on this confrontation. Instead of helping the Palestinians rebuild a infrastructure capable of bringing order and controlling the place bombs rain down and destroy it. Sorry but blockades and economic sanction will never destroy such an organization and might help it since it reduces the ability of the common people to fight the extremist(name me one case where economic sanctions have yielded good result anywhere in the world). And just driving in and bombing everything you can't isn't building any support for you by the population.
Don't get me wrong the rockets in Gaza have to stop but this military strategy is flawed thinking. Hamas is proving that even with all this they still are managing to launch them and they don't seem to care that others are taking the hit.
The only solution is to get the Palestinians and arabs to eliminate Hamas from within. You won't stop them unless their peers do.
in all cases they would have lost had it not been for help by a much more powerfull ally thousands of miles away.
But in any case, currently their old enemy is the best chance, aka egypt.
I'd like Egypt to step up and realize that Gaza should be taken over by them and order brought in. I don't like the current goverment in egypt for their human rights position but they have done a much better job then Israel at containing extremist muslim groups like the muslim brotherhood which is ancestor to hamas.
Of course Egypt doesn't want the problem and so this will never work.
If only Amazon would sell MP3s to people who don't live in the US. Are the Canadian arms of the American music companies really that different?
I buy my music online from the likes of Magnatune and the "iTunes Plus" store (DRM-free, and higher-quality files than the regular iTunes store). When I can, I buy directly from the artists online.
Sure Apple is enabling idiotic behaviour from the music companies, but I'm not sure we should blame them; would the music companies have even allowed them to sell music without the DRM? You could show your "appreciation" for the DRM'd music by buying something from the iTunes Plus store...
Which cost more, I would buy from iTunes but amazon is cheaper for drm free music.
What are the criterions for it to be the year of Linux?
Frankly, every year has been good to Linux lately. I'm glad to be sporting a Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu on it. Buying a laptop with Linux on it wouldn't have been possible a year or two ago from a large vendor. Now every big vendor has a Linux laptop for sale.
So, what needs to be accomplished for it to be the year of Linux on the desktop?
Except that will obviously be slower due to the overhead of abstracting from the hardware. And that is already what most OS out there do. Linux on RISC does exist and so does Linux on * But there is a drawback to all that.
How many people would blindly type in their password without looking for the nice little lock. If you can fake the url in the top bar you are probably able to get a few passwords yielding enough to make a good attack. The question is, how do you transfer all that money without it being traceable. I'd like to know that please:P
that one did make me laugh. From my understanding of the hole, he would have to attack all dns servers requesting information from the root.com server AND do so for every domain requested. No small feat.
Lets not forget which president ended his presidency with a surplus. The Republican controlled congress did not re-enact the budget controls that were in place in the 90s, that's where the deficit exploded.
As for the cuts to NASA. Frankly, it's a drop in the bucket. The big issue is Welfare programs and such. Find a way to eliminate that and you will have all the money you need to pay off the debt in full in a few years. Oh and please someone make them shore up Social Security with enough cash to pay the current entitlements and eliminate them for anyone under 40-50. I don't need it and I would love to stop paying them in the future. For now, just finish off those who are getting it or about too and eliminate the rest.
Agreed.
Frankly they didn't go and hurt anyone. They just notified the ISP of abuse on their network. These security researchers hopefully didn't use illegal means of gathering their information. In the end this is MUCH better than allowing law makers to come up with vague laws that could apply to too many situations. In this case these two companies McColo and the other one listed can simply go look for service elsewhere or negotiate to get their service re-enable. This is free market at work. The upstream saw lost their incentive to host these companies when it affects their service to other customers and simply back out of it.
McColo didn't respect it's contract with the upstream ISP and got disconnected. NOT vigilantism.

tic-tac-toe is, destroyed the machine.
the misuse of the word "free" is deliberate on stallman's part i can assure you, just as he insists on calling DRM "Digital Restrictions Management"
Which is what it is.
osx not linux /dev/hda won't work
http://www.kernelthread.com/mac/vpc/images/win101.gif who ripoff who again?
lies
you sure know your history. Care to write a book about it? Sure Doug Englebart would love to read it./
Actually the protocol citrix uses kicks microsoft rdp protocols ass. But citirx is not very reliable.

Amazon doesn't seem to have an issue.
Youtube does not work on my iPod. And I don't stay in front of my computer all day so, mp3s are way better.

why not just stay on the coast and shoot air to water missles or something
YOU COULD JUST IGNORE IT. Who gives a shit what the majority thinks, they have the real slashdot to look at.
Would optical get around such a barrier?
Physical space seems to be one of the major hurdles in CPU design today, due to leakage with the ever shrinking processes.
And i think it is about damn time that new silicon laser receiver thing (forgot the details) was put into implementation and testing.
IBM is already working on it. Stay tuned.

leave it on. Screw their numbers up. Probably doesn't work (they probably have automatic shutdown scheduled) but worth a try.

Except OSX doesn't do a very good job at it. Please snow leopard, FIX IT!
