Hear hear that's the way. When ii got fed up i just tossed my whole collection at my Bro (who wanted to borrow them as he had back then just bought a cd player) and said keep em i don't want the damm things anymore and muttered something profain about the riaa being the pot calling the keetle black (it was around the time the riaa had been fined for engaging in price fixing while the were trying to bring down napster) so he took them and i haven't seen a one since. Well except for acdc's back in black which got forgotten from the collection but i figured eh gotta hold onto a little something so i kept that one cd.
Everything else went though and i don't miss em at all been 5 years and my radio plays enough music still to keep me satisfied.:D
Ok so im sick and pathetic but at least i keep to my principles.
So you're the one writting all thoughs anoying PDF's that litter my system!
Shame on you you're family you're family history and genetic line from start to finish despite you're good intentions you have still made my life all the harder so i anoint you with the spalware seal of disaproval.

Please though we need a PDF killer i don't think that Unipage will do it, To easy to exploit.
IMO" PDF Has always been an anoying propritary format that requires downloading of new versions often and takes up gobs of extra memory as well as startup time.
If adobe could address though issues and make it universial PDF would be a great format but sadly they won't and PDF won't be a true universal format able to launch in any other way than with it's own propriatary software.
I hate having to download a PDF to view documentation on a piece of hardware or new software and have it load in a propriatary program that doesn't always exit gracefully and uses to much memory. Why can't some companies just put their manuals in HTML, Doc or Txt files or almost any other format that is universal to windows Linux or mac instead of PDF*inf' F that requires extra software downloaded and updated on a constain basis.
End PDF Rant*
Sorry i have just gotten to really hate the guts out of PDF over the years and just wish it would die but i don't think Unipage is going to do it not without introducing flaws and exploits in HTML and the other newer formats unless it removes or restricts in every way the vunerabilities in thoughs formats which i don't see likely without backpeddling a decade or so to reinvent the web with the security it should have had to start with.
So PDF a neccicary evil that shouldn't be but is and Unipage a good that cannot be without rewritting internet history to make it what it should be. But then many points in history or development should have been written differently to be what they should have been but won't be so were pretty much stuck were we are till the next real revalution comes along and we can only hope it will fix the problems of today without making more problems for tommarrow like PDF and other advances have done today.
But that's just My oppinion though and who really cares about that:D
What and let Mickey fall into the public domain!!!
In my Oppinion the Disney corperation and the Congressmen in their hip pockets would never allow that! They will keep extending Copywrite law whenever Mickey's in danger of going into the public domain.
Why do you think they call it the Mickey Mouse law anyway.
Well the Dodo wasn't smart enough to get any Government to to keep themselves from going extint so i would have to say the RIAA is a little smarter than that but not by much.
Sure it's worked for them before (8 tracks, Cassettes, CD's) So why not make everybody rebuy their collections again for MP3 and MP3 Players.
Keep in mind theirs always a new format or media comming down the pike for them to make you buy your collection again on (at least in their minds) so they can make piles more cash when they hardly need anymore of it as it is.
They won't stop at this till their dead or they get everything their way which lately they have been.
The difference though is that everybody pays to be their whores whereas the RIAA hasn't paid to be you're anything!
I stopped being the RIAA bitch years ago you can to just stop listening to any music that doesn't come in over the radio or from lone artists that aren't sucking on the (My Oppinion)RIAA's Teets. Don't buy CD's or buy from thoughs artists that don't use the recording industry to make and distribute their music.
In my Oppinion: When enough do that they will collapse in on their decadant disease infested selves. Just an oppinion mind you not a statement of fact so i can't be sued for saying it.
This isn't any good at all and can only end badly for both Intel (well intel was going to end badly anyway) and Skype.
For me i use Vonage unlimited plan as my landline (cut the local phone company off ahh that was a glorious day) over cable $24.99 a month unlimited calls to anywere in the US canada and now recently added porto Rico.
Skype doing things like this just can't help them and at a time when others are trying harder to become the voip of choice making choices like that can be suicide from a buisness prospective.
We have ID cards to theirs the regular ID card If you don't have a driver license and a Drivers License or DL. Then their's the Social Security card or SSC and the old mainstay the Passport all of which have certain info about you.
The ID and DL contain Name, Address, date of birth, height, Weight, color of eyes, sex, Date issued and experation as well as a ID number. Further the DL contains the class of license
The SSC contains your Social Security Number which is used for employment to put money away for your retirement (and some argue more but thats another issue). The passport all of you should know so i wont go into it.
These three cards have for many years been suficent for use in identifying people but in recent years have made us more prone to identity theft which i wont go into now. However Here in the US they now want to replace the ID, DL, SSC and Passport with Biometric ID cards which contain not only genetic link to you via you're DNA but also will have to be presented to buy anything and i mean anything and that info goes into a central Database that is maintained permanently.
Why? What does my purchase of Toilet paper or a burger fries and a shake have to do with preventing terrorizim? Why do they need to keep a permanent record of that?
Their is also talk of having to carry and present this ID traveling from state to state and has been talked about putting board posts up at each state boarder to check the ID of people traveling by car. Plus in my state they have started putting up cameras at intersections which can record our cars traveling through them as well as ID our license plates which will be linked to this card as well allowing them to track our movements throught the city and record that info of where we went and what we did in this database. Now im sure they wont nor can they do it for everybody every second of every day not yet anyway theirs not enough proccessing power nor coders to do it manually but the framework will be their in place once it is if it ever is.
Not only that but the single card to indentify you with all your info on it will be a identity theafs wet dream come true esspeically when fewer and fewer transactions are done face to face allowing them to steal from you that much easier or for a terroist to fake being you so much easier.
Then their the potential for abuse of the data collected by the government as well as potential for the system containing the database to be hacked and the data stolen which has already happened here in the US more than once in the last couple years with credit card data and data colletions co. Credit companies can't secure their information from hackers Data mining compaines can't And even Microsoft has said that such a database wouldn't be safe from hackers so what makes the US or UK for that matter think they can protect it when MS doesn't belive it and Credit companies and data collection companies can't? So what's the ID and data collections really for why do they need it? Whats so important to them that they need to know so much about what the people are doing, where their going, what their buying and spending their time on? Sounds more like a control and money making device for big buisness and big government to me.
Whats worse is this ID scheame has potential to go global and could end up their in italy as well.
DL and SS card currently have no biometrics and no big hulking DBase behind them recording everything you do with the card nor reliably track your movements.
You also don't currently have to present them to purchase every little thing something that has been put forth as a requirement at least here in the US which would allow for tracking and recording of your spending habits and personal preferences etc.
Starting to get what the fuss is about now.
If current DL and SSCards were enough or as far as it went it wouldn't be a fuss here but they want to replace both with biometric cards that track spending and travel habits and the like and keep all of the records of that on file for what? To help prevent terrorizim?
I would really like somebody to explain to me why the government needs to record my purchase of a sode fries and a burger or a package of toilet paper and keep it on permanent record so they can fight terrorizim.
The PVR 500 is two PVR 150's not 350's. It works great BTW easy setup only two entries in system hardware Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 no crossbar or audio drivers seperatly and it installed in like 2 secs.
Yeah the PVR 500 was more pricy at launch but since then the prices have come down a bit except on Hauppauges online store it's still selling for $170 without remote $199 with remote but it can be gotten off of Newegg for $139 plus shipping.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is supported better in myth now as that's a tuner that will be in big demand once it works with little or no flaws. 2 Tuners 1 slot only thing better would be a tripple tuner card or even a quad.
Not sure about linksys extender support you could check through their forums to see if somebody has one setup in it or post a question about it.
Sagetv does try to support the newer hardware that people want to use and does listen to the community on things they want to see show up in sage or be supported by sage so if it doesn't support it now i wouldn't be to surprised if it doesn't show up in a future beta version.
Having come out with a whole slew of things in the last beta HDTV support for a number of different cards and studio which allows end users to change and modify sage interface and gui as well as create plugins for sage and a number of other features that the community was asking for, I wouldn't rule it out at any rate it never hurts to check or ask.
You could also ask Linksys what HTPC they support or are planing on supporting if thats the media extender you are set on.
Try Sagetv http://www.freytechnologies.com/
It supports and has for some time all the things myth just came out with in their new release plus it works with media extenders like Hauppauges media extender. And it stores recordings in Mpeg2 and 1 as well as supporting Mpeg4/divx.
Wrong Vista is designed to work on PC's down to 2 gigahertz cpu's and will come installable on either 32 bit cpu's or 64 bit cpu's the only difference will be that if your cpu isn't 3 gig or faster you wont be able to run all the higher end gui stuff in vista. This is not something MS would have done with Vista if they had no intention of selling the OS on older machines that don't currently support (without graphics and display upgrades) DHCP.
As for Nvidia and ATI not bothering it maybe more likely they aren't going to spend the time to put new connectors onto their boards till this is all set in stone since the connections standards have changed from Dsub to DVI to HDCP. their was also HDMI in their which i had heard was what MS was going to require for HD in Vista but then cablelabs came out with their HDCP requirement for cablecard 2.0 so it may have prompted a change in MS's display spec. Given this change from DVI (Digital connection with DRM) for digital display to a subchange to HDMI (Digital connection with stronger DRM) which gets superceaded by HDCP (another Digital connection with even stronger DRM) before the OS even comes out would it be any wonder card makers would wanna wait to put out cards using the new spec before it's set in stone so to speak given the cost of some of the modern video cards. However the bigger problem with HDCP cards comming out though is not that card makers wanna support them or don't want to on older hardware it's that all cablecard 2.0 hardware must be certified by cablelabs before it can be sold to the consumer HDCP is a cablecard 2.0 display spec as such it must be certified by cablelabs as part of a whole box to insure the secruity of the system. So that means that for now you can't buy a card seperatly with HDCP and card makers can't sell it to you not without violating cablelabs certifications and since cablelabs is a goverment entity it would be a federal violation.
Im an HTPC euthusiast and have been for years so i try to watch things like this which will impact that market as close as i can. And im not opposed to online distributed content as long as i can buy it download it and burn it out for long term storage and replay or have it shipped for replay and storage in my media library. I prefer to own my content or at least own the medium it's on so i can watch it in my time and my way as often as i want without having to flip open my wallet all the time.
I do agree with the good enough hardware comment really whats the point this is all being done and consumer expense just to satisfy the content industry so they can have absolute control over their content and squeeze the public for all were worth.
Yeah athens had a more democratic dictatorship that the US.
