Even if I had supported such a draconian law as Real ID I would voice opposition to it on these grounds anyway. Why because bills that effect our freedoms and our nation shouldn't be rubberstamped into law without a review to decide if they should become laws. This is not why we have congressmen and senaters to rubberstamp bills without seeing if they deserve to pass.
Tell your senators to at least read the bill before voting on it. They owe us at least this much for putting our faith in them by voting them into office to begin with.
Government beuacracy doesn't make things easier they make things harder while taking more and more info about everybody.
You'll still have thoughs long lines with somebody comming along looking at your id and taking time to find the info and look you over before passing it back and moving on to the next. Why because having someone looking at a screen of a swipped card and at the individual swipping it wouldn't be as thurough to much tendancy to glass over the data while not getting close to check the person in person so to speak. Also it would mean they would be getting more done which isn't one of the governments strong points in fact it's one of the weakest points of the government. They'd just spend more time dawdling around on you.
States would also do the same only they would spend more time between people doing something else passed off as work plus people would be charged more and get more paper work for the privilege of having a universal ID. This is how governemt beuacracy works more time wasted and more money taken to make it look like they need more money and more controls to make things simpler or haven't you figured that out yet?
Yeah problem is though that the hollywood has said they wont produce much HD content without a broadcast flag making more rapid adoption of HD amongst the public impossible which can only hurt big buisness. I mean why do you think their hasn't been a flooding of HD programs hitting the airwaves already when the buisnesses are trying to sell sell sell. Because hollywood and the MPAA are holding things up trying to get their intelectual property protected from joe public trying to Tivo their HD shows in HD and burn em to disc and put em on the internet etc.

The Intel inside is a hold over from the old wintel days when Microsoft and intel were still real buddy buddy. It basicly meant that Windows was optimised for the intel chips and so supposedly would run better on intel machines with the intel inside logo. But that all changed after the MS vs DOJ case when Intel claimed the problems windows had on intel machines was because MS broke windows on their machines. MS in return claimed Intel broke windows on their machines. Basicly both were saying that intel inside didn't really matter as the other had broken windows on Intel machines. Needless to say after that Microsoft stopped optimising windows only for intel and started includeing AMD chips in it's windows optimisations which resulted in windows running much better on AMD machines than they had before.
The MS/DOJ case isn't the only place intel has messed up lately. They messed up by sitting on their lorals while amd was hard at work on the athlon chips and later with it's p4 design which far from running faster than the athlon chips actually ran slower only making up the difference by massaging the clock cycles (overclocking the clock crystals to force the chip to say it was faster than it actually was) also via Hyperthreading their chips creating a virtual cpu which is what really helped them close the gap the most though they were still 6% slower than the comperable AMD chips. And then with the itanium by not including x86 in the design. And then by waiting to long to get out it's 64 bit desktop chip resulting in it not working with MS's Windows 64 bit forcing them to ditch the 64 bit chip to produce one that would work with AMD's 64 bit code which they had to beg AMD for just to have a 64 bit x86 chip that would work on windowsXP 64 bit. Then they further mess up by panicking at amd's dual core announcement and rush out a dual core chip that was poorly designed causeing it to run slower than amd's and not only that but require the user to buy a whole new motherboard. Whereas the amd chips will work on current 939 motherboards though older ones will require a bios update. Then theirs the thermal problems intel chips have been having more and more lately. Not to mention the intel dual core chips requireing almost twice the power under load as the amd dual core chips.

With Intel you would need to buy a new board for the new dual core intel chips as the old ones arent compatable with dual cores in one socket. With AMD current socket 939 boards are compatable though some will require a bios update to work with the dual core amd chips.
SMP motherboards would be for multi socket dual cores and it's pretty much the same deal as it is above with the non smp boards.
Bottom line if you have a current AMD socket 939 board you wont have any aditional out of pocket cost and only the time it takes to flash the bios if you have one of the older 939 boards and providing nothing happens to mess up the flash of course. If you have a P4 board you would need to buy a new motherboard who's chipset supports dual core intel chips. AMD stated they were planing for dual core 64 bit chips all along and the fact that most of their boards already support dual core chips and other can with just a bios update does seem to bear that statement out.
For my money I would go with amd even if you have a current intel board as amd's dual core solution is better than intels. Intel rushed it and went the cheaper route of slapping two seperate chips on one die and calling it a dual core chip wereas AMD went with a true dual core. Which is to say two cores on one chip. The difference is AMD's dual core cpu's can talk to each other at the speed of the cpu bus. but intels chips have to talk to each other at the speed of the system bus which is slower than the internal cpu bus. Plus the AMD chips share the same local memory which allows for faster transfer of data from one cpu to the other when needed as apposed having to send it to the other cpu's local memory over the system bus.
Which has the killer deal for your next system? Well your choice but for me im going AMD the way the amd chips smoke the intel chips as well as for ease of upgrade and the cheaper cost of AMD chips it's just no contest Intel is just way to overpriced for their tired old Pentium chip design.

To date neither seti nor nasa have encountered any organized pattern of radio waves produced by the universe by chance. Of course the same can be said for radio waves produced on purpose by any intellegent beings other than signals from earth and it's satalites of course.

It wouldn't be illegal to own a non BF tuner but it would be to buy or sell a non BF tuner if the F.C.C.'s Broadcast Flag had held up in court.
